Registered Nurse, NICU/Post-Partum, Per Diem (Regional Position between Waterbury Hospital and Eastern Connecticut Health Network) RATE OF PAY: $76.00/hour NOTE: All employees must be willing to rotate between Waterbury Hospital and Manchester Memorial Hospital. SCOPE OF POSITION: The professional nurse practices, delegates, and collaborates with other team members to facilitate the coordination and delivery of patient care for the assigned patient population for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Post-Partum (Couplet Care). The patient population identified as neonate, adolescent and adult. Reports to Associate Director of Healthcare Staffing On Demand, LLC. # RESPONSIBILITIES: Nursing Process - Provides quality of care utilizing the nursing process. Develops plan of care with appropriate intervention for post-partum and newborn patients.# Supports Breast Feeding initiatives. Leadership - Demonstrates leadership to ensure all patient/family needs are met. Delegates responsibilities to appropriate member of the care team. Has the autonomy capability and motivation to be identified as one of principle care givers for the patient providing appropriate teaching and communicating pertinent information across continuum of patient care. Directs accesses and provides patient care to outpatients as well as inpatients. Professional Behavior - Acts as a role model by promoting a professional and collaborating approach with all members of the care team collaborates and works cooperatively to resolve problems and ensure excellence in clinical practice. This may include acting as a mentor and/or preceptor. #Demonstrates and promotes cultural sensitivity. Quality - Actively participates in initiatives to ensure quality outcomes of patient care. Adheres to and responsible for meeting all standards of care as it relates to AWHONN, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The Joint Commission, national and local regulatory requirements. Competency - Maintains accountability for professional competency. Demonstrates competent knowledge and critical thinking to promote optimal patient care in the Family Birthing Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Maintains required knowledge and skills, completes general unit/department specific competencies. # JOB REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited RN program State of CT licensed or license eligible RN BLS required Neonatal Resuscitation Certification required S.T.A.B.L.E. # To be obtained within 6 (six) months of hire Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a time-oriented environment including exposure to all patient elements in blood borne pathogenics, physical requirement lifting and pulling patients, pushing stretches, standing and walking. May be exposed to environmental hazards such as anesthesia gases or elements. Ability to interact with patient and families with tact and confidentiality. Ability to approach clinical responsibilities for patient regarding growth and development issues relate to specific age groups of population served. Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures. Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility. # ORIENTATION: Clinical orientation must be completed within 30 days of hospital orientation. # CONTINUING EDUCATION: Employees are required to successfully complete mandatory education/training as assigned. It is the employee#s responsibility to complete and return all continuing education documents, i.e. certificates/forms by the posted due date to document knowledge of recent changes. # WORK REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 24 hours per month, this includes (1) 8-hour weekend shift (weekend starts Friday 11pm- 7am Monday). A maximum of 130 hours per month will be permitted. A minimum of 1 shift per week is preferred All employees must be willing to rotate between Waterbury Hospital and Manchester Memorial Hospital. The Central Scheduling Office will notify employee via the provided phone number if there is a need to change the assigned facility prior to the start of the shift.# Employee will be notified of any change 2 hours prior to the start of the shift. Employees are required to work (1) 12-hour holiday under Group A; and (1) date under Group B, per year, to meet the holiday commitment.
