Job Description

This part time (20 hours / week) position involves a variety of traffic management duties with a goal of reducing delays and congestion on I-95, I-395, I-91, and RT 15. Work is performed under minimal supervision.

Most of the things you’ll work on:

• As a Systems Operator you will respond to the activity on I-95, I-395,RT 15 and I-91 with the use of cameras and other real time information.
• In response to highway incidents, the Systems Operator creates and sends warning messages that are displayed to motorists on variable message signs located throughout the state.
• In addition, traffic information is broadcasted live on 1670 am and 1610 am, utilizing the Highway Advisory Radio.
• You will operate and evaluate traffic signal systems in response to ConnDOT requirements.
• In addition, you will also coordinate activities with other incident management agencies.

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

• The ability to handle stressful situations
• Strong English language skills
• Observant and detail oriented
• Experience using personal computers in a Windows environment
• A State Police background investigation is required

Office description:

This part time position (20 hours / week) will be embedded with the CT Department of Transportation in Bridgeport.
