Job Description

We act as Twitter’s ambassadors to government policymakers, regulators, and civil society groups on public policy issues. We focus on addressing issues such as freedom of expression, privacy, online safety, net neutrality, and surveillance reform to advance the interests of Twitter and our customers. In addition, we serve as the @TwitterGov team & showcase the use of Twitter for civic purposes as well as the @TwitterForGood team, providing guidance, resources, and support for Twitter’s Corporate Philanthropy mission, including authorizing Ads for Good.

About the Role

  • You will represent Twitter externally with the US Administration, select agencies, and third-party groups and identify and manage special projects for both the U.S. and Canada Policy Teams that harness the power of Twitter to achieve policy objectives.
  • You will be responsible for contributing to and executing digital partnerships, trainings, and strategies with state, local, and federal government partners, including federal agencies and legislative bodies within the US and Canada.
  • Work directly with the US and Canada Policy Teams to identify key partners and establish a management process for Twitter engagement and success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, as well as external partners and peer companies to achieve results for government partners.
  • Work closely with the Global Civic Partnerships & Innovation team to develop solutions for U.S. civic engagement, including product experiences, audience development, influence engagement, and content opportunities to protect and enhance Twitter’s reputation and values.
  • Work closely with the Global Civic Partnerships & Innovation team to further U.S. and Canada creative content objectives and resources for Twitter owned and operated handles to showcase use cases of Twitter for US and Canada government and political engagement.
  • Work closely with the Social Impact/@TwitterforGood team to implement campaigns and strategies in U.S. and Canada markets with nonprofit partners.

About You

  • Strong understanding of the US federal government, including federal agencies, as well as an established network with current leadership in Washington, DC. A plus if experience with Canada public policy initiatives
  • Be a consensus builder who is respected by those on all sides of the political spectrum.
  • Compelling political experience and savvy with strong policy, communications, and digital skills. Preference for political communications director or press secretary types who are looking to leverage their chops to help achieve policy outcomes.
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, creative, and results-driven. Advanced presentation and public speaking skills

Qualifications

  • 7 years professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's preferred but not required with relevant experience
