Job Description

SVD Solutions is seeking a qualified security-focused professional that can help our federal client achieve mission success through expert level risk avoidance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience leading IT security efforts for federal clients and be able to foster a corporate culture of IT security acceptance through interdepartmental relationship building. The candidate will be challenged to apply defense-in-depth techniques, including both process and technical based, on a daily basis securing National Security Systems. Must have experience with NIST SP-800 series, FISMA, Risk Management Framework and processes/policy supporting Continuous Monitoring. Experience with traditional C&A/A&A work is valuable. This position also requires some familiarity with Linux. All work will be performed on site in the DC Metro area with limited/occasional local travel as necessary. Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret Clearance &Must be able to successfully pass a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph
  • Must have current security certifications, such as CISSP, GSLC, CISM, CEH. CISSP Preferred.
  • Must have experience with NIST SP-800 series, FISMA, Risk Management Framework and processes/policy supporting Continuous Monitoring
  • Must have exceptional writing capabilities on technical and process security controls
  • Must be able to articulate risk mitigations and answer IT Security questions in a professional manner
  • Must have at least 10years working in a dedicated IT Security role, 15+ years of total progressive technical and security-focused experienced preferred
  • Experience with traditional C&A/A&A work is valuable
  • Experience with Linux is valuable
  • Experience working with the Intelligence Community is a plus
  • Experience briefing Federal Executive Staff on IT Security matters is a plus
  • BS in Computer Science Information Systems or related field is a plus

  • Summary The Smithsonian Institution is a diverse museum and research complex dedicated to the increase and diffusion of knowledge. This position is located in Smithsonian Institution, Office of Protection Services. The Office of Protection Services is responsible for overseeing, a large museum/complex law enforcement and security program, and leading and providing protection throughout the Smithsonian Institution. Responsibilities The Supervisory Security Officer oversees and manages the Smithsonian Institution\'s security program that provides protection for all facilities controlled and managed by the Smithsonian. In this position, you will: Develop, organize, and/or direct all activities concerned with security and disaster management planning programs. Provide advice and assistance to all levels of management on technical, planning, and project personnel engaged in a range of activities pertaining to security and disaster management aspects of SI buildings to include leased facilities. Serve as the museum/complex focal point and in-house consultant with responsibility for round-the-clock protection from all hazard threats to include vandalism, terrorism, as well as other crimes and provides technical assistance in establishing and maintaining efficient security operations responsive. Requirements Conditions of Employment Requires career/career-conditional status or eligibility. Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with Selective Service. May be required to serve an 18-month probationary period for supervisors. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience.
