Purpose of Division:
Information Technology and Services (IT&S) is responsible for planning, design, implementation, and support of NeighborWorks’ enterprise wide business applications and management of information technology resources and services. IT&S provides business applications and supporting services to identify, gather and efficiently organize the data that is required to support the business activities of NeighborWorks America (NWA) and its affiliated NeighborWorks Organizations. NeighborWorks America undertakes several major capital budget IT project initiatives in order to meet NWA’s current and future mission, goals, objectives and ongoing business requirements.

Position Summary:
The Network Administrator assists in installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining the hardware and software of the NeighborWorks® America network infrastructure. Under general direction, establishes employee network, e-mail and remote access accounts; maintains user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security; supports and maintains both physical and virtual servers, and monitors server room environment.
Troubleshoots 2nd and 3rd level data connectivity issues for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems as well as remote connectivity systems; performs daily server backups and scheduled network tasks; monitors, maintains, and supports a variety of network infrastructure devices throughout the WAN (such as switches, external storage, and wireless LAN controllers); and, researches and evaluates new technologies related to servers, storage and data communications. The position reports to the network operations manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and support Windows Servers in our on-premise environments and Azure cloud subscription.
  • Ability to support physical servers and Cisco Unified Computing System/UCS blade servers.
  • Complete general network administration tasks, such as user account maintenance, daily checking of system event logs and network monitoring system.
  • Assist in maintenance of WAN, LAN and Internet connectivity, including Cisco routers, switches and firewalls, VPN access, and Remote Desktop.
  • Maintain security of company data through backups, disaster recovery planning, malware prevention/detection/removal, and account monitoring.
  • Provide timely and effective Level 2 customer service and support primarily via telephone and e-mail communication for server and network issues.
  • Track and escalate network support requests as needed to the appropriate IT&S staff. Work closely with other IT&S staff to resolve complicated issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Support other team members in developing skills through cooperative work relationships including sharing problem diagnosis and resolution and cross training efforts.
  • Provide timely and effective communication to customers regarding problem status and issue resolution.
  • Develop a working knowledge and implement all IT&S policies and standard operating procedures of the department and provide input for improving existing department operations.
  • Accurately log all network contacts using existing ticket tracking software and document all actions taken to provide problem resolution.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports of activities as required.

SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to the Senior Network Administrator, Database Administrator, and Network Operations team in a timely fashion while exercising proactive communication.
  • Act as secondary resource and support the backup and recovery processes.
  • Keep current regarding network technology trends, hardware and software products, especially as would be beneficial for NeighborWorks America.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the IT Support Operations team to ensure superior responsiveness to customer needs and system performance.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Network Operations Manager.

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS
  • On-going, daily interaction with IT&S Staff and contractors.
  • Regularly works with all NeighborWorks America staff.
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and working with vendors and consultants for hardware/software purchases, product services, and support.

Requirements
Required Minimum Qualifications:

(a) Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or related field.

(b) Experience: Minimum of 4 years professional experience with current Microsoft technology. An equivalent combination of training, education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and competencies will also be considered.
8+ years professional experience with current Microsoft technology, in lieu of education.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong experience in help desk support and customer service activities with demonstrated customer relations skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff, customers and external vendors.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and work on multiple projects with multiple deliverables.

echnology:
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 and 2016, Active Directory, MS Azure and Office 365.
  • Experience implementing and supporting VMware vCenter and ESX Hypervisors, enterprise backup systems, and Storage Area Networks / SAN.
  • Ability to configure Cisco networking devices to include switches and Cisco Meraki firewalls.
  • Experience implementing physical and blade servers; Cisco Unified Computing System.
  • Exposure to Cisco wireless LAN controller, MSSQL Server and Web Servers.

Demands: Fast paced working environment, extensive computer usage. Light lifting up to 25 lbs.
Special Provisions:
Occasional work outside of normal business hours, such as weekends and evenings required for maintenance or system upgrades.
