Description: Metric5 is currently seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a growing team on an exciting and highly visible project for a US Treasury customer. The ideal Site Reliability Engineer will provide macro-level plans for operating and maintaining the platform, regardless of the underlying infrastructure (e.g. AWS, VMWare vSphere’s vCenter, SC2S, and C2S). The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in designing and developing systems that are resilient and have a high performance and analyze security risks and respond to new threats. The Site Reliability Engineer will integrate the platform with external enterprise core services such as Active Directory Federation Services, DNS, etc., and provide its approach to configuring DNS records to include defining appropriation system and application domains, and SSL certificates. Our ideal Site Reliability Engineer has knowledge and hands-on experience building and maintaining and securing multi-region cloud based systems. As the Site Reliability Engineer, you will share your knowledge and hands-on experience in developing, implementing, maintaining and leading cloud and/or infrastructure programs with the team. The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise on enterprise transformation within an organization, through previous experience of leading infrastructure and/or cloud engineering teams to transform waterfall-based programs through the adoption of Agile best practices. Responsibilities:
Provide support for CI/CD and DevOps initiatives, to include pipeline and deployment automation and support
Contribute to developing infrastructure as code, software build tools, and integration tools
Work with development teams to automate manual release/build related activities
Design, develop, and engineer software solutions and REST and SOAP APIs using Angular and other JavaScript based frameworks
Troubleshoot issues related to software applications
Provide support, tool management, and operating system administration for new and legacy applications
Required Skills:
2-5 years’ experience with architecting and migrating applications to the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud environments with a firm understanding of factors involved in being cloud native
2 years’ experience of working with cloud services and the ability to provide expertise for operational management of monitoring, management, disaster recovery, security compliance/auditing, networking, storage, service brokers and buildpacks
Experience with Site Reliability Engineering concepts and practices such as SLI’s, SLO’s & error budgets
Demonstrated experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system
Experience with programming and software development, to include analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and/or upgrading of software systems
Working experience with CI/CD pipelines, including technologies such as Jenkins and Github
Working knowledge of web service environments, languages, and formats such as RESTful APIs, SOAP, FTP/SFTP, HTML, JavaScript, XML, and JSON
Familiarity with virtualized environments
Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
Desired Skills:
Working knowledge of management/tracking utilities such as JIRA/Confluence, a plus
Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment and knowledge of Agile philosophies
Able to clearly communicate and provide positive recommendation of improvements to existing software applications
