MicroSystems Automation Group (MSAG) is seeking a talented Senior Database Developer to work in the Office of U.S. Foreign Assistance Resources (F) using the Foreign Assistance Coordination and Tracking System (FACTS info) which is the tool used for the dissemination of planning and performance information as well as for foreign assistance budget formulation and is currently in full production with distribution at State HQ and USAID HQ and missions. In support of FACTS Info, MSAG requires a full-time resource to perform Database Administration and ETL Programmer tasks for new USAID Info capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform Database Administration and ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) Programmer tasks.
• Incorporate new data from a variety of sources into the database as needed.
• Locate GIS (Geographic Information System) data as requested and import into system.
• Database administration, including setting up security controls, scheduling backups, and applying patches.
• Work with the software development staff to refine and extend of the data base schema.

Requirements:

• Formal education in database design (associate degree or higher)

• Ability to obtain an MRPT clearance is required
• 5+ years' experience as a database administrator/ETL programmer
• Minimum of 2 years' recent experience administering SQL (Structured Query Language) Server in an application development, GIS, and ETL context.
• Experience working directly with data providers to understand data semantics and troubleshoot issues.
• Familiarity with relational database design and data warehouse concepts.
• Knowledge of ETL tools and techniques.
• Familiarity with GIS concepts in and SQL environment.
• Demonstrated ability to normalize, cleanse, and import data from multiple formats.
• Experience migrating data between differing databases schemas.
• Experience with GIS technologies, especially SQL Server Spatial and ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute standard) shape files.
• Unusually strong enthusiasm for database integrity and data quality.
