Seeking qualified candidates for Senior Cyber Security Engineer positions supporting the Department of Transportation (FAA). The Senior Cyber Security Engineer has extensive IT and engineering experience in all aspects of Cyber Security in supporting legacy networks (TDM to IP) and a vast array of IT systems. The selected candidate shall have experience designing and implementing systems that meet agency Cyber Security policy and regulations. He/she must have extensive experience with Cyber Security Tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, Cloud-based networks, and secured networks. candidates should have Aviation Safety and Cybersecurity at the forefront of their decisions.

Responsibilities include

  • Requirements development, analysis, and supporting comprehensive trade studies
  • Continuous verification and validation of cybersecurity requirements
  • Ability to apply system security engineering techniques to solve and mitigate cyber vulnerabilities
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST cybersecurity framework, NIST Risk Management Framework, and a foundational understanding of ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management
  • Expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP'addressing (IPv4 and IPv6), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.), and transport protocols (UDP and TCP).
  • Detailed knowledge and hands-on experience in troubleshooting routing protocol issues including BGP, OSPF
  • Experience in working with Telco and network service providers (TDM, TDM over IP, MiTop Technology, Ethernet, DWDM, MPLS)
  • Experience in design, maintenance, and operation of large enterprise-sized networks
  • Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience diagnosing network related issues
  • Ability to work independently to resolve technical issues in a dynamic environment.
  • Security+ Certification
  • CCNA or CCNP Certification


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
  • At least ten (10) years of successful experience or an advanced degree in an applicable field


Other Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cyber Security best practice and enterprise Cyber Security solutions
  • Strong knowledge of advanced cyber threats and adversary methodologies within current network infrastructures and cloud-based deployments
  • Ability to document and present ideas and findings such that others can quickly learn from or make decisions based upon the material
  • Ability to develop new ideas and techniques that advance the state of the practice for cybersecurity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
