Perform implementation of ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping in the non-Production and Production instance. This includes:
Analyze and take action on the identification and reconciliation rules in the POV environment and establish appropriate rules in the Production environment to eliminate duplicate and redundant CIs in the CMDB. POV environment to be used for testing purposes prior to enabling discovery in the Production environment to avoid any unexpected interruptions to existing CIs
Analyze and take action on the existing relationships (manually created or from existing integrations) in the Production environment and identify any impacts with discovery data when discovery is enabled
Identifying which existing relationships can be removed and take actions by replacing those generated by automated discovery and service mapping data
Analyzing existing discovery schedule, define, finalize and create discovery schedules for optimal discovery activities to avoid conflicts with existing data integrations and backup schedules
Analyzing the use of credentials, making and documenting recommendations on credential ordering to ensure their efficient and effective use in discovery activities
Perform the configuration of the Production instance to ensure successful Discovery and Service Mapping activities. This includes:
Execute the discovery of IT components on the network and complete the service mapping of 25+ time-critical applications
Review, modify and develop new and/or existing ServiceNow discovery patterns as needed to ensure critical services such as authentication, identity management, custom applications and services etc. are identified as part of the service maps for all time critical applications
Configure and develop dashboards and reports to surface discovery and service mapping data for various audiences within the company
Perform the operational and maintenance and continual improvement of the Discovery and Service Mapping service. This includes:
Troubleshoot and resolve discovery and service mapping errors with CI owners and application teams
Gather credentials for new technologies and service mapping requirement for new applications onboarded and deployed in the environment
Gather discovery and service mapping status for monthly and quarterly status progress reporting
Required Experience:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on ServiceNow implementation experience for large complex environments with ServiceNow IT Operations Management (ITOM) specifically with Discovery and Service Mapping. Experience must include end-to-end implementation and Discovery and Service Mapping related activities such as CI identification and reconciliation rules (identification reconciliation engine), reviewing discovery logs, debugging patterns and probes, troubleshooting logs to resolve errors, modifying and creating new patterns.
3+ years of hands-on experience in the discovery of Cloud resources not limited to Cloud Storages, Cloud Functions, Cloud APIs, Cloud Containers, serverless components, etc.
3+ years of hands-on experience mapping of Cloud (PaaS, IaaS) and hybrid applications
Completed the service mapping of at least 50 large and complex applications
Extensive Process knowledge and working experience as lead implementer for ITOM specifically Discovery, ServiceNow and CMDB
Ability to comprehend, modify and create server-side object-oriented JavaScript, Unix Shell scripting, Windows scripting and Powershell
Intermediate knowledge and ability in Server Administration across OS platforms, including the understanding of described domain structures, user permission levels, group policy objects and the execution of sudo policies
Understanding protocols such as HTTP, TCP, SNMP, SOAP, and REST
Familiarity with the XML, and JSON/script language concepts
Knowledge of Web and Application Servers, Load Balancers, Databases, and Virtualization (WebSphere, MQ, IIS, Apache, VMware)
Intermediate Windows and Unix administration skills
Familiarity with network concepts (routers, switches, firewalls, NAT, load balancing)
Familiarity with CyberArk as external ServiceNow credential store
