I am a 30-year old man with Ducheene Muscular Dystrophy who uses a power wheelchair full time. I'm looking for a reliable, friendly, and flexible live-in caregiver. The position is full-time, live-in and starts late Janurary. My home is in Fairfax Virginia where I live with my mother who travels often. This is a long-term position, at least 1 year if possible. Must be fully vaccinated, non-smoker, able to drive and work in the US as payment is through a government agency.
POSITION DETAILS:
I am fairly independent and work from home.
The position is meant for daily feeding and showering/toileting as needed. You'll use a patient lift to help transfer from wheelchair.
The primary hours are from 6pm-9pm daily with the rest of the time being on-call.
I have other caregivers that facilitate my other needs, but you will be back-up in case of emergency. On-call hours are very flexible. You'll have a lot of free time outside of primary working hours.
TRAINING PROVIDED:
Training by existing care team will be provided. Must be comfortable handling me without worry and asking me questions for clarification.
PREFERENCES:
I'm looking for an English speaker around my age, 30.
CNA preferred: Must be comfortable showering and toileting.
Engaging and upbeat: I like to keep to myself more often than not, but I'm looking for someone engaging and upbeat for when I want to be sociable.
Likes to cook: As I like to cook, I'll be instructing you on the dishes I'd like to make, so cooking skills will be appreciated.
Willing to go out: Sometimes I'd rather go out to eat, in which case you would take me using my accessible van and I would pay for the both of us.
PAY:
Pay is $136 a day, paid bi-weekly through a government agency.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The house is located in Fairfax, Virginia. Rent will be $500 a month.
You'll have your own private bedroom, fully furnished. As well as access to common areas and shared bathroom
Utilities included, wired internet, washer/dryer, street parking and groceries will be provided.
Position is for a LONG-TERM, LIVE-IN and starts late January.
