Our client, a higher education medical association, has an immediate opening for a temporary to hire Marketing and Communications Manager.
This person will primarily responsible for the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans for the organizations events and membership recruitment and retention.
This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders. We are seeking candidates that can produce high-quality, strategic marketing and communications in a deadline-driven environment. The Marketing and Communications Manager drafts and develops communications in collaboration with internal clients and external agencies and is responsible for effectively conveying the organizations messages to members, prospective members and the general public. These individual tailors messaging and visual elements in accordance with brand standards to be shared throughout a variety of communications mediums.
Primary Responsibilities
Develops, implements and measures membership and event marketing and communications plans, ensuring
alignment with division and organization-wide strategic goals.
Manages production processes from drafting copy and initiating design through approvals and scheduling for
direct mail, email, print, online advertising and other marketing collateral.
Drafts copy and manages house ad placement for member newsletter.
Develops and executes marketing plans for annual gala and collaborates on
general messaging and materials development to promote the Foundation.
Helps to define and communicate to diverse audiences via various print and digital outreach the value
proposition for membership and select events and products.
Recommends and executes innovative strategies for member recruitment, retention, engagement and
increased event attendance.
Streamlines membership marketing processes and strengthens member welcome, renewal, acknowledgement,
engagement and other touchpoints.
Updates existing and generates new content for the membership pages of the website.
Represents the Association both internal and industry events to educate existing and prospective members
about benefits and services.
Builds, executes and monitors trigger email campaigns and other data-driven digital marketing efforts, and
adjusts marketing plans accordingly.
Uses key reports and email, social and web metrics to determine effectiveness of membership and event
marketing efforts and recommends and implements improved strategies.
Contributes to the development of various budgets and monitors budgets to ensure projects are on track.
Collaborates with Advocacy and Government Relations staff on annual Hill Day and general marketing and
communications efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field.
5 years of marketing and communications experience with variety of media required (e.g., newsletters, web content, marketing, etc.).
Marketing experience with an association strongly preferred.
Membership or conference marketing experience strongly preferred.
Strong project management skills and the ability to produce quality written communications in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated initiative, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the people skills to cultivate relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and social media platforms.
Experience with content management, email marketing and association management systems required.
