An armed security officer means a natural person employed to safeguard and protect persons and property or deter theft, loss, or concealment of any tangible or intangible personal property on the premises he is contracted to protect, and who carries or has access to a firearm in the performance of his duties.
DC SPO RENEWAL (8 hours- $125 including range)

RENEWAL of and armed D.C. SPO Commission you must complete 8 hours of class and range training. This training must be done within 30 days of your expiration date. You must be currently employed by a security company to renew your D.C. SPO or company sponsorship.
MD HQL (4 hours $100 including range)

As of October 1, 2013, Maryland residents must possess a valid Handgun Qualification License (HQL) before they can purchase or receive a handgun.
