The Role:The Role Sensus is seeking a Senior Regulatory and Compliance Engineer to develop and execute test plans for determining regulatory compliance of components, products, and systems. Products include Water, Gas, and Electric meters, Automatic Meter Infrastructure (AMI) smart points, in-home-displays, street-lighting, network communication cabinets and more. The candidate will also work closely with hardware, and mechanical engineers and firmware developers to insure the full integration of quality products.Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:Work closely with Marketing and Research and Development teams to determine country-specific industry standards and legal requirements for regulatory compliance of a wide variety of AC and DC powered electro-mechanical products and radio transceivers.

Develop test systems for a diverse product portfolio used in indoor and outdoor environments

Assignments may include performing radio / RF characterization and antenna pattern studies, EMC/EMI analysis and testing, testing for product/intrinsic safety performance and design analysis, and obtaining domestic and international product approval certifications (ex., FCC, UL, CSA, IC/ISED, CE, NSF, etc.…)

Lab coordination and testing to achieve international compliance including LVD, REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Safety and RED Directives, etc.

Work with cross functional teams (e.g.: Sales and Marketing) to understand customer usage and expectations and use the data to continuously improve test and analysis practices and provide technical guidance on regulatory impacts and requirements during all phases or product life from requirements development to component and sub-assembly revisions of released products (including ECR/ECN review and approval).

Use of Six Sigma techniques to define critical design parameters, developing of tests (DOE approach) and analysis of performance data to determine impacts on long-term product reliability or compliance performance

Participation in FMEA of electrical and mechanical systems and board level troubleshooting

Develop subassembly/system level regulatory test plans (including sample size, test and measurement methodology) and utilize test automation where applicable to achieve system regulatory compliance.

Analyze test data, third part test reports and author clear and comprehensive compliance test reports

Enter test cases, test runs and resulting test defects into an end-to-end automated test tracking system

Maintain detailed MS Project schedules for regulatory test programs

Demonstrated experience working within a Stage-Gate or Phase-Gate product development processes

Maintain and update industry standard libraries and product certification archives

A team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:BS Degree (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent (combination of Associates Degree / military training and relevant work experience)

Ten years (+) of related test and verification work experience preferred

Experience coordinating test programs and performing testing to compliance requirements utilizing a host of test equipment including anechoic RF chambers, EFT/Surge equipment, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Hi-Pot and ESD equipment

Regulatory testing and coordination including detailed working knowledge of FCC intentional and unintentional radiators (Parts 15, 90, 24 and 101), CISPR and ETSI EMC, Intrinsic and Product Safety (IEC 62368) or Industry Canada requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:Lean Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma experience

RF/Wireless, EMC or Product Safety Subject Matter Expert

Working knowledge of International Product Approval requirements and methods

Environmental safety requirements knowledge a plus

SUMMARY:Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the maintenance, repair, and safe operations of all the engineering needs for assigned vessels and equipment. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop repair specifications and manage the repair of the vessels by overseeing all activities directly related to the repairs. Liaison with the vessel Chief Engineer/Captain on required maintenance needs. Manage and negotiate contractor selection, contract management and contractors work by setting up service to vessels, ensuring regulatory inspections are scheduled timely and controlling expenditures within designated projects. Monitor and coordinate vessel certification inspections with external and internal customers. Regularly attend vessels during times of out of service or dry-docking. Work with warehouse personnel requesting fleet spare equipment be dispatched to support the upkeep of the vessels. Create PO’s/WO’s, review and close outstanding maintenance jobs, review/approve requisitions, and review vessel reports. Work with buyers to assist in the purchasing of supplies. Complete POs of work performed, adjust, and update financial information to allow for payment matching to the invoice. Develop maintenance and repair cost analysis sheets and monitor the budget. Assist in the development and modification of preventative maintenance plans for vessel equipment. Ensure the engineering procedures and policies are periodically reviewed, modified, and implemented. EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or a related field; 10 years in an engineering related field may be substituted in lieu of the educational requirements. USCG license and/or Maritime graduate preferred. EXPERIENCE:5 or more years’ experience in marine engineering, sailing onboard a vessel. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Knowledge of NS-5 ship management software, computer technology and processes preferred. COMPETENCIES:Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
