THE JOB:
TransPremier is looking for a Lead Diesel Mechanic to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on the fleet at our Jacksonville location. He/she will be responsible for troubleshooting as well as repairing and replacing systems in an independent environment. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of Mack dump truck mechanics. He/she holds a valid class A or B CDL and is a safety-driven and detail-oriented professional. The candidate should have a proven track-record in leadership positions and must excel in high-pressure situations. He/she is organized and works well with deadlines. He/she should have the following certifications: Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification, Forklift Certification, Welding Certification, and be willing to undergo further certifications on behalf of the company.
WHAT YOULL DO:
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on company dump trucks
Repair and replace systems, such as: brakes, seals, ball bearings, engine belts, air conditioning, differentials, transmission, PTO, engine, tires, alarms, switches, lights, air compressor, pumps, air bags, timing belts, shock absorbers, hydraulic systems, among others
Perform oil and filter changes
Repair minor electronic issues within vehicle
Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics testing
Perform general inspections of company fleet
Maintain work area clean and tidy
Input data into maintenance-tracking systems
Delegate tasks and supervise team
Assist in related tasks as assigned
Report directly to the Shop Foreman and Operations Manager
WHAT YOU HAVE:
At least 5 years of diesel mechanics experience
At least 2 years of experience in leadership role in diesel mechanics
Expansive set of high-quality personal tools to be used on the job, including electric and air tools
Valid Class A or B CDL
Strong knowledge of mechanics for the following equipment: Mack Dump Trucks, Broce Brooms, Elgin/Johnston Sweepers, CAT Skid Steers, Roadtec Milling Machine
Strong knowledge of DOT safety regulations
Basic knowledge of asphalt operations and material hauling
Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification
Forklift Certification
Welding Certification preferred
Willingness to undergo company-provided certification in safety and other related areas
Professional and safety-driven team player
Great communication skills
Ability to receive and implement feedback
Basic computer skills for data entry, emailing and reporting
English fluency; bilingual in Spanish is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and/or move at least 75 lbs.
Climb in and out of heavy equipment
Stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pulling
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and CDL equipment
Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus sight
A high level of awareness of surroundings and environment
