Job Summary:

This position will oversee the work involved in selected campaigns across the aged accounts receivable file. The objectives of this position are to identify, account for and resolve issues inhibiting payment. This position will be a working supervisor who will see that key objectives are being met and work is being focused on areas of interest.

This position will facilitate the selected campaigns by not only providing guidance by also keeping statistics on work and problem identified.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise, lead and manage staff of Account Follow-Up Specialists according to organizational principles and local leadership philosophies.
  • Perform insurance verification on cases identified where the health plan information is suspect.
  • Identify, classify, and work each item aged 121 days or older per a download report provided by Revenue Management.
  • Process work on the inventory of aged accounts receivable greater than 121 days, grouped by account number/clinic so that duplication of work is prevented.
  • Provide updates to management regarding the percentage of completion on the campaign as well as trends discovered during the work associated with the campaign.
  • Assists in tracking performance, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of denials management and underpayment functions aligned with established management targets/KPIs.
  • Assists in presenting current state performance to leadership, to include identification of process bottlenecks.
  • Responsible for assisting in the execution of workflow designed to optimize and maximize reimbursement for denials and underpayment management.
  • Reviews worklists to verify they are being managed effectively and work assignments remain current.
  • Applies methodologies to measure and analyze volume trends, quality, and staff productivity of assigned work areas. Provides timely feedback to staff on the outcome of results.
  • Demonstrates effective decision making skills by defining the scope of an issue, identifying the stakeholders whose input is needed, creates and weighs alternative solutions and communicating outcomes.
  • Assists in the creation of strategic plans and initiatives that reflect the department leadership plans using creative and innovative tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education/Licensure/Certification:

    • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. A Bachelor's Degree in Business is preferred.

  • Required Knowledge:

    • The ideal candidate will have operating knowledge of Revenue Cycle function, software systems, claim form and contract information.
    • The ideal candidate will be familiar with healthcare accounts receivable as well as claim form information. The individual will have a minimum of four years’ experience with healthcare accounts receivable maintenance with a large volume healthcare provider.
    • The ideal candidate will also have supervisory experience.

  • Experience Required:

    • At least 3 years of supervisory and leadership experience is required. Ability to lead people, instill confidence and sort fact from fiction is essential.
