The Physical Therapist provides physical therapy and wellness services to patients and clients who have impairments, functional disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes. Moreover, this employee helps patients and clients restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. The Physical Therapist I collaborates with healthcare teams that include physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.Evaluates new patients, establishes goals, and develops appropriate treatment plans.
Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions on a daily basis.
Educates patients and families regarding medical conditions and provides instructions for home activities.
Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain necessary information and suggests revisions in treatment.
Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or real clinic need.
Participates in quality and safety improvement activities.
Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel.
Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for learning programs, monitors effectiveness, and adapts programs accordingly.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Identify and meet the goals and needs of our student-athletes
Develop and execute individual, student-athlete-centered care plans, activity progressions, and post-operative
rehabilitation protocols
Develop and implement health and performance screening processes
Provide quality, personalized, and evidence-based care with best available interventions
Consult and practice with other members of the Athletics Staff (strength coaches, athletic trainers, physical
therapists, coaching staff, etc.)
Provide effective and concise communication regarding student-athlete status and care with members of
coaching staff, administration, and medical staff
Promote and provide an example of a healthy lifestyle, fitness, and wellness
Promote, facilitate, and be an example of lifelong learning, critical thinking, and creativity in your practice
Follow professional guidelines, laws, and standards set by Professional, Federal, and State Licensing board
Be aware of Emergency Action Plan with Affiliate and Local EMS
Administrative Duties (15-20%):Establish and update student-athlete and staff electronic medical record and hard file.
Weekly/Daily documentation of objective findings, treatments, doctor appointments, correspondence
from doctors, diagnostic testing, and any other relevant medical information pertaining to individual
Update and maintain accurate treatment reports will be sent as needed to appropriate medical and staff
Communicate, coordinate, and update student-athletes rehabilitation throughout the off-season for injuries
sustained during the season
Establish and maintain rapport with local and organizational team physicians
Monitor and update student-athlete injury reports for potential rehab candidates
Provide mentorship and education for other members of the medical staff
Collaborate organizational rehabilitation philosophies and standards
Assist with research and development of pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative data/best practices across
sports as related to pathologies, injury trends and return to play progressions
Ability to conduct scientific assessment, student-athlete monitoring, and evaluation procedures

Minimum Qualifications: Education:Graduate of physical therapist degree program (DPT or MPT) from a CAPTE- accredited physical therapist educational program (DPT preferred)
Board Certification in Sports and/or Orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS) or seeking certification
