Job Description

SUMMARY: The CNC Machinist has a wide range of responsibilities, including and not limited to proper routing of work through the shop, cost effective machine set-up procedures and proper tool selection, Shares programming responsibilities and directly reports to the Machine Shop Manager. This is a climate controlled shop.

Essential Functions

  • Perform set-up and run various CNC or Manual machines to assure consistent flow of work through the shop.
  • Assists in designing, developing, cataloging, and maintaining tooling and fixtures used in the manufacturing process.
  • Develop and maintain part programs as necessary.
  • Instruct new employees in proper machining techniques.
  • Program machinery using Mazatrol and/or Mastercam

This is a 2nd Shift (3:15 pm- 12:30 am) primarily operating Mazak CNC Lathe.
Will consider candidates for Lead role based on overall experience.

Additional Leadership Responsibilities Possible:

  • Assists in directing work through the shop and communication between the Machine Shop Manager and the machine shop employees
  • Responsible for a team of 2nd shift Machinists.
  • Assist Machine Shop Manager in assuring that company safety policies are adhered to.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years machine shop experience
  • Must have at least 5+ years of experience with CNC programming including experience using Mazatrol and/or Mastercam, with ability to program/ edit, set-up and run machinery to specified tolerances

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Leadership experience in a team environment
  • 10+ years of overall CNC programming and machine shop experience is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand tooling requirements
  • Strong understanding of machine shop operations, machine set-up procedures and a working knowledge of different materials and tooling available
  • Capable of developing fixtures and tooling for specific uses in machine set-up
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and part-programming software
