Mechanical Insulator

In need of a Mechanical Insulator to install, maintain, and repair insulation systems on mechanical equipment such as pipes, ducts, tanks, boilers, and HVAC systems. The role focuses on controlling temperature, preventing condensation, conserving energy, and ensuring safety in industrial, commercial, or residential settings.

I- Key Responsibility

Measure, cut, fit, and install insulation materials (fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, foam, etc.)

Insulate pipes, valves, fittings, boilers, tanks, and HVAC systems

Remove and replace damaged or outdated insulation

Apply vapor barriers, jackets, mastics, and sealants

Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders

Follow safety procedures, including proper handling of insulation materials

Work at heights, in confined spaces, or around operating equipment

Ensure insulation meets thermal, acoustic, and fire-resistance requirements

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe condition

Coordinate with other trades and supervisors as needed

II- Required Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Apprenticeship or prior experience as a mechanical insulator

Knowledge of insulation materials and installation techniques

Ability to read measurements and technical drawings

Physical ability to lift heavy materials and perform manual labor

Familiarity with OSHA safety standards

Strong attention to detail and workmanship

Trade certification or apprenticeship completion

Experience in industrial, commercial, or power plant environments

Knowledge of asbestos awareness and abatement procedures

Valid driver’s license

Standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing for extended periods

Lifting materials typically up to 50 lbs. or more

Working in tight or elevated spaces

III- Work Environment

Construction sites, factories, power plants, or commercial buildings

Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions

Exposure to dust, heat, cold, and mechanical systems
