Job Description:The task and responsibilities of this position include:Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to volume, census, and acuity
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance and documentation of assessment, reassessment, individualization, and prioritization of the patient's Plan of Care in accordance with the department standards
Evaluates patient's response to the Plan of Care, communicate to members of the health care team, and implements necessary changes to care based on patient assessment
Demonstrates capability in assisting with emergency measures (code blue, etc.) until the physician arrives
Ensures that all patients are welcomed and greeted upon arrival to the unit as per individual department plan
Ensures that all patients transferred and discharged have paperwork completed including medication reconciliation, patient teachingDelays in this process are communicated to the patient and/or family
Rounds hourly (or more frequently as needed) to reassess the patient's condition and document vital signs accordingly
Able to start, titrate, and monitor the approved drips for the Progressive Care Unit
Demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning and ongoing professional development through such activities as education, certification, and participation in professional organizations
Provides respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients
Monitors, records and communicates patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems
Provides preoperative care for open-heart patients, including preparation, education, and recording of all pertinent data
Provides post-open heart, post-ablation, post-cardiac cath, post stent, and angioplasty patient care
Follows ACLS protocol in cardiopulmonary arrest/emergency situations
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
Demonstrates the ability to take care of AAA repair etc. Utilizes critical thinking, reporting pertinent data to physicians, and maintaining hemodynamic stability of the patient
Able to interpret EKG rhythms

American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and certification
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification
Medical Telemetry or Critical Care experience required
Associate (2 years) Degree required
Bachelor (4 years) Degree preferred
