TESTING SUPERVISOR

Summary:Ensure that the Product Testing Area is effectively established, deployed, maintained, and continually improved. Works closely with Operations Management to drive and maintain world-class manufacturing operations and quality outcomes. Manages, directs, and mentors the efforts of the Testing Technicians. Monitors and reports on the performance of the Testing Department to management and establishes the format and frequency of these reportsPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:

Approve testing procedures by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials to production, pump shop, service and R&D.

Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor

Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests

Return products for re-work if needed and complete documentation to confirm re-work

Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs

Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs.

Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations

Coach and mentor junior employees; seek opportunities to grow leadership in others

Delegate responsibilities to staff and monitor the delay performance.

Determine and track relevant metrics to convey the success and/or needs of the testing facility.

Gain complete system knowledge and a full understanding of instrument theory as it relates to assigned responsibilities. Differentiate between system and product failures

Ensure work assigned is completed in a compliant manner documenting all testing or work in accordance with Thompson Pump Manufacturing and Quality Control policies and procedures.

Work with engineering and manufacturing personnel regarding quality issues encountered.

Management of competing projects and testing to completion within assigned timelines.

Management of department personnel in a regulated fast-paced environment.

Provide positive and negative feedback to staff. Writing annual reviews and salary recommendations.

Develop innovative testing strategies that are in line with the corporate vision and goals.

Plan and implement testing projects and facility improvements.

Create budgetary requests for various repairs and improvements.

Manage execution of testing related projects and improvements.

Identify process improvements for testing, accuracy, and understand Lean Manufacturing techniques. of the management of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Execution of process and equipment validations including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, attending seminars, watching industry videos, etc.

Plan, develop, organize, and write technical documents.

Collaborate with others on any suggested changes to the product or any subsequent production-related information.

Collaborate with others to implement changes that improve safety, quality, productivity and profitability.

Ensure that each order contains all the required documentation.

Participate in review of new orders (Contract Review).

Collaborate with purchasing, production, sales and materials departments to ensure production units meet stated objectives, schedule and budget.

Instruct, train, counsel and evaluate departmental personnel. Establish, maintain and enforce departmental procedures.

Participate in various meetings such as Design Review, Discrepant Materials, Pre-Production Planning, Weekly Manager's and Weekly Foreman's Meeting.

Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university in a field related to data analysis; with three to four years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Development software and Design software.
