Position Title : Dockhand / Boat Yard / Customer Service

Reports to: Marina Operations Manager

Position Purpose:

Responsible for greeting all customers encountered throughout the property and assisting boaters with tie-up, pump outs, fueling and other services. Assist forklift and travellift operators with boat movements and boat storage.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and Average Percent Of Time

Assist the forklift and travel lift operators in the movement and storage of customer vessels. Assitance includes but is not limited to performing the role of spotter, preparing storage spots for vessels, tieing up vessels, putting together boat stands, flushing boat engines and more.

Provide great customer service to current and potential marina customers. Assist customers with tie ups, pump outs, fueling and more on the docks. Respond to customer inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Field customer complaints, conduct research and resolve and negotiate solutions for customer satisfaction.

Perform special projects assigned for each day of the week. Projects include but are not limited to general cleanup, yard work, pulling weeds, routine maintenance and more.

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of marina information including, but not limited to, slip sizes, slip, rack and yard rates, packages, promotions, the local area and other general product knowledge and also ensure they answer all customer questions and inquiries in a timely manner.

Use upsell techniques to increase revenue and sales of our slips, racks, yard spots, marina store goods and various services.

Receive, input, retrieve and relay messages to customers.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of other supportive functions and manual labor, with the percentage of time performing each function to be determined by the Marina Operations Manager and/or General Manager.

OTHER DUTIES

Assimilate into the Harbortown Marina - Canaveral culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of the operations. Demonstrate working knowledge of our service standards. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Marina from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. The marina provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

EXPERIENCE

At least 2 years experience in Customer Service field preferred but not required

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates

GROOMING

All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available)

NOTICE:

The marina business functions seven (7) days a week. In addition, this is a service related business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.*

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $10.00 /hour, which increases to $11.00 / hour after successfully completing 90 days of employment. Opportunity after 90 days of employment to be certified as a forklift and/or travel lift operator and receive an additional wage increase.
