Job Title: CNC Production Machinist
Department: Machine Shop
Reports: Production Supervisor or Lead
Education: High School Diploma or GED
CNC Production Machinist performs duties and tasks listed below to setup and operate CNC production equipment.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs all tasks in a safe and reasonable manner
Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance
Reads and interprets operation sheets
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Performing mid-level math skills efficiency and accurately (including addition,
subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions and decimals)
Familiar with GD& T tolerance
Use gauging and measurement instruments to perform all duties
Upload and Download programs per instructions
Identify, prepare and load fixtures and cutting tools in CNC machine and create offsets
Inspection of equipment including, fixtures, gauges, cutting tools, and machine
Read and understand G-Code and conversational programming
Reduce setup times and cost
Identify, modify and verify conformity of production parts to operation sheets
Changes all cutting tools and offsets
Grasp 5S and Lean Manufacturing philosophies.
Accept the 1 Man 2 MachineĀ mentality.
Efficiently train other CNC Machinists in all aspects of the job.
Train individuals with a variety of experience levels and personalities
Communicate information clearly and directly to co-workers and Supervisory Personnel both verbally and
in writing
Abide by safety procedures
Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
Other duties may be assigned as necessary
Additional Requirements:
Experience and Skills Required:
Skill and Performing mid-level math skills effectively and accurately
Skill in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometer and other inspection gauges
Skill and reading and interpreting documents such as work orders drawings internal and external, customer
specifications, manuals, and safety regulations
Ability to meet production requirements as specified
Ability to adapt to change (positive or negative)
Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations.
Ability to develop Constructive and Cooperative working relationships.
Ability to effectively train Personnel in all aspects of the job. The duties of the trainer would include on-the-
job training.
Ability to train individuals with a variety of experience levels and personalities.
Knowledge of 5S and Lean Concepts and ability to help move forward with achieving department goals.
Promote a TEAM environment.
Ability to motivate and develop staff.
Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
Attention to detail.
Effectively communicate and Understand Job instructions both verbally and written.
Physical Demands:
Must be in good physical condition and be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop,
kneel, crouch or crawl for length of shift.
Visual Acuity:
Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected.
Specific vision abilities required by job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to
adjust focus.
Visual acuity abilities required for reading computer screen and documents.
Hearing Ability:
Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
Job Conditions:
Factory environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Occasional work outside normal business hours
High noise levels from operating machines
Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
Breathing fumes dust and mist.
Skin exposure to chemicals associated with manufacturing
Work inside and outside the facility.
