Responsibilities / Purpose of Position:

The Family Support Worker develops trusting partnerships with families. The FSW supports families in using family strengths to build skills for self-sufficiency, improved quality of life, and parenting interactions that help children become ready for school and life.

The FSW assists families in identifying and reaching their own goals. With collaboration from families, the Center and Area Teams, and community partners, the FSW supports families in developing skills for leadership and advocacy for their children. The FSW documents all family development services to show a clear picture of the families' needs, strengths, and growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the tasks below.

Other family development responsibilities may be identified to support families as needed. Each essential responsibility requires regular documentation of tasks completed in order to fulfill the responsibility.

The Family Support Worker 2 develops trusting partnerships with families. The FSW 2 supports families in using family strengths to build skills for self-sufficiency, improved quality of life, and parenting interactions that help children become ready for school and life.

The FSW 2 assists families in identifying and reaching their own goals. With collaboration from families, the Center and Area Teams, and community partners, the FSW 2 supports families in developing skills for leadership and advocacy for their children. The FSW documents all family development services to show a clear picture of the families' needs, strengths, and growth. Within the Center and Area Teams, the FSW 2 acts as a mentor and guide for ongoing implementation of family development practices.

Note: Other duties as assigned for this position, include immigration-related tasks as described on the last section under Essential Duties and Responsibilities on this job description. In such cases, the employee will report directly to the Immigration Counselor or the Immigration Program Manager.

Required Qualifications:

Family Support Worker 1 - Passing of DCF background screening requirements (all records at state and national level).

Family Support Worker 2 - Passing of DCF background screening requirements (all records at state and national level) AND Family Development Credential (FDC) and one year of experience OR combination of 12 credit hours in social work or related field and two years of experience in the social service field.

Desired Qualifications:

Family Support Worker 1 - Member of community being served and, when applicable, farm worker background. Possess a current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Red Cross First-Aide. A candidate not possessing these qualifications may still be eligible for the FSW job role.

Family Support Worker 2 - Member of community being served and, when applicable, farm worker background. Possess a current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Red Cross First-Aide. Possess a High School Diploma or GED. Bilingual. A candidate not possessing these qualifications may still be eligible for the FSW job role.

OTHER:

Required to work flexible hours that may include two evenings per week and one weekend per month.

Must be age 21 or older and have a Florida driver's license and privately owned vehicle to be used for business purposes.

Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver License to operate a School Bus within 30 days, if required for the work location.

Driving record acceptable to RCMA's insurance carrier is required.

Ability to work with staff, families, and professionals.
