What You Will Be Doing: As aPenskeJunior Software Engineer, you will be involved in developing, enhancing and supporting our internal applications. As an entry level role requiring some programming experience, you will be given the opportunity to developyour technical knowledge through training as well as gain valuable hands on experience across multiple projects in a fast-paced collaborative team environment. As a member of the Big Data Integration team, you will support existing streaming platform, data pipelines, data services and troubleshoot issues as they occur, while also developing new streaming modules. In addition, this position will also be responsible for building/maintaining data services and participating in various projects to stream IOT data from multiple internal and external data sources.
Penske Responsibilities:
Learn to support parts of the application lifecycle (develop, test, release and support) based on detailed requirements and guidance from senior/lead developers and management
Collaborate with technical leads and product owners to acquire and understand requirements / acceptance criteria when applicable
Produce basic deliverables with clean, well-documented and easily maintainable code that adheres to defined code standards
Learn to support existing applications and processes, resolving customer issues in a timely manner
Gain a high-level understanding of relational database design
Learn to troubleshoot / Debug software applications
Learn to write unit / UI tests to help identify defects
Qualifications Penske Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent years of software development experiencepreferred
Basic Knowledge of appropriate programming languages such as Java/RPG required
Knowledge or experience in Spring Framework, SQL, Kafka, Distributed systems, CI/CD, Data Streaming, GitHub, and AWS is preferred
Basic knowledge of the full system development lifecycle
Strong understanding of commonly used Data Structures and Algorithms
A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for code quality that follows best practices
Ability to work in a team environment with an aptitude to learn
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
