Responsible work in overseeing various rentals, fields, parks, pavilions and events during the weekend in the City of Oldsmar. Work is performed under the general direction of the Parks Operation Supervisor.

DUTIES:

Responsible for monitoring multiple rental sites, fields, parks and pavilions.

Emptying and removal of trash between rentals; cleans restrooms and other areas.

Responsible for set up/breakdown and monitoring of special events at different City locations.

Monitor daily use of the Cypress Spray Park and the two pavilions onsite.

Maintain other open areas of parks and pavilions and during shelter transition periods.

Informs and directs public in the use of facilities.

Resolving disputes with public at rental areas.

Enforces city policies, rules and regulations as necessary.

Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work condition or practice to supervisor.

Operates light and medium equipment in performing various maintenance activities related to maintenance of parks, and grounds including manual labor, operation of motorized equipment, equipment maintenance, building and grounds maintenance and construction.

May prepare athletic fields and other recreation areas for use.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of landscape maintenance and standard horticultural practices.

Knowledge of tools and equipment to do related work.

Knowledge of groundskeeping practices and principles.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Skill in the operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and related tools.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to interact with the public with tact and courtesy, diffuse conflict and be a good ambassador for the City.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

(A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).

Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).

Heavy (45 pounds and over lifting and carrying).

Bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, walking and climbing.

Pulling, pushing, reaching and throwing.

Driving and operating equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Works inside and outside in various weather conditions, extreme heat and potentially exposed to chemicals, (insecticides and herbicides), dust, grease/oils, noise, odors and solvents.

Slippery and uneven surfaces.

Heights.

In or around moving vehicles and equipment.

In or around hazardous areas.
