What does a great Manager Site Reliability Engineer do?
The Enterprise Data and Analytics team is looking for a "Manager Site Reliability Engineer", to join their fast pace / cutting-edge group, to assist in many of the day-to-day tasks critical to the overall success. Expectations will include but not limited to managing a team of DevOps/L2 engineers in addition to maintaining knowledgebase / run-book, troubleshooting and restoring service to applications, general assistance with projects, and after-hours support.
Leading a team of 2-6 DevOps/L2 engineers and manage their deliverables, execution, and career growth through mentoring and coaching.
Monitors dashboards and alerts and responds according to alerts as necessary.
Provide application support, leveraging internal support resources along with 3rd party vendors and suppliers where necessary.
Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions where possible, engage development teams as required to help resolve technical issues.
Works with Product, Project, and Delivery teams to ensure successful deployments of new code to lower environments and Production.
Proactively monitor platforms and creating proposals to ensure application performance is maintained.
Proactively work across teams, peers and vendors to foster a culture of continuous improvement resulting in best in class support structure.
Helps create, validate, and approve Operational run-books and other required documentation for all clients and systems.
Performs impact analysis and maintain knowledgebase of issues and resolutions
Provide subject matter expertise for the proactive management of applications including performance, scalability, capacity, compliance, security, supportability (including patching) and maintainability
Creates reports, dashboards, and alerts as necessary to ensure that incidents are identified and resolved within SLA
Partnering with HR in identifying and onboarding engineering talent as we continue to grow.
Providing inspiration and guidance to the growing team; foster a culture of transparency, collaboration and innovation.
Basic Qualifications for Consideration:
Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
Knowledge and ability to interrogate code (Java, Python Perl, etc.) and configurations to fix issues.
Hands on experience in Linux / UNIX command line.
Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Service Management tools.
Hands on experience in creating alerts and dashboards utilizing different application monitoring tools such as Splunk, App Dynamics
Hands-on experience with supporting AWS Platform and Services including but not limited to Compute (Lambda, EC2, Batch), Security (IAM, WAF, Secrets Manager), VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SNS, SQS, S3, RDS, ELK, API Gateway, Cloud Formation
Ability to automate tasks using scripting languages such as SaltStack, Chef, Puppet and Ansible.
Experience documenting application Run-books and system guides.
Experience with writing SQL queries.
Experience with technologies like Apache, Wildfly, Talend, Oracle, Angular, Confluence, JIRA, Tableau, Power BI.
Displaying strong verbal and written communication, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
Experience with CI/CD tools and technologies - GIT, Bitbucket, SonaType, Jenkins, Fortify, AutoCM, etc.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:
Experience in the Payments / Card / Banking industry and familiarity with payments processing data constructs
BSc or Master's is preferred
