DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Informatics Nurse Specialist is to facilitate the integration of nursing practice with data and information systems to improve the quality of patient care.

They are responsible for working collaboratively with administration, information technology, and clinical care teams by participating in the planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned Clinical Information Systems across the healthcare care system.

Through the use of information systems, they provide support to patients, nurses, providers, and management by ensuring accurate flow of data and knowledge to improve the foundation of nursing care and administrative systems.

The Informatics Nurse Specialist is the clinical lead on informatics projects, working closely with Information Technology staff to manage, develop, modify, evaluate, and implement new informatics solutions to ensure they support nursing and the delivery of patient care.

With the implementation of new applications and systems, the Informatics Nurse Specialist is responsible for facilitating communication from the clinical end users across the patient care departments while working collaboratively and directly with the vendors and technical experts.

They work to optimize the clinical design of systems to meet the needs of a large group of interdisciplinary end users, including physicians, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, pharmacy, lab, ancillary, clinical, and administrative staff.

For their assigned area of the Emory Healthcare system, the Informatics Nurse Specialist will serve as a clinical information resource.

This will include consulting with system technology and clinical partners in the documentation, implementation, design, build, and maintenance of clinical information systems.

They also act as an educator and consultant for nursing on clinical informatics and are an advocate for developing health policy based on quality clinical outcomes.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Nursing and three years clinical RN experience required.

Must have an active Georgia RN license.

Experience with design and implementation of healthcare applications in a health system, to include two years in informatics.

Direct Cerner experience is preferred. Experience with change management process is preferred.

This position requires strong communication, project management, presentation/facilitating, team building, and excellent customer service skills.
