Procurement Category Manager, Converting Materials - Atlanta, GAThe opportunity:The primary purpose of this position is to support converting operations through strategic sourcing and category management activities for Direct Materials across the Food and Beverage, HBH and Corrugated Business Units; 200+ plants, $60MM+ spend (Adhesives, Starch Additives, Chemicals, and Resin/Plastics). Develop supply market analysis, category management strategies and playbooks, and pipeline of value-add projects for assigned categories. Assist in rolling out strategic supply plans for sourcing and selecting WestRock recommended suppliers to the businesses providing a financial benefit that meet quality /service requirements. Understand working capital and extend payment terms to create working capital benefit. Create net value through supplier relationships, particularly by implementing Continuous Improvement projects with preferred suppliers and plants. Negotiate with suppliers to advance WestRock interests and provide advantages vs. market.How you will impact WestRock:Build and send out RFP/RFI templates for materials and understand material specs, supplier capabilities and technical manufacturing capabilities.

Assist in supplier recommendation activities, including qualitative/quantitative analysis, selection criteria and bid analysis.

Articulate financial impact to BU P&L and division stakeholders.

Project scoping - assessing the scope of a cost reduction project, the resources required, the savings potential, the risks and assumptions and the implementation plan.

Project management – leading, guiding, and coaching internal and external cross-functional team members through the implementation of global category management projects.

Communications – Written and Oral communications to various levels of management.

Drive cost savings, decrease supply chain risk, and improve product/operational efficiencies and quality through supplier relationship management with the supply base.

Develop new sources of supply, innovation, and initiate value opportunities to ensure leveraging enterprise and support the supply chain & EBITDA goals of divisions.

What you need to succeed:BA/BS in Packaging Science, Supply Chain, or other Business field.

5-7 years of experience. Packaging, Adhesives, Chemical background preferred.

The candidate must be a self-starter and have strong relationship building and analytical skills.

The individual should understand the concept of influencing and motivating others and integrating and aligning procurement/supply chain strategy in support of business strategy.

Preferred experience in the packaging industry, chemicals, sourcing or selling corrugated boxes, paperboard, cartons and/or converting processes.

Ability to travel, build relationships with plants and suppliers, work independently and cross functionally and define and execute on goals with stakeholders.

Position requires proven Excel reporting skills and effective leadership, communication, collaborative, analytical and negotiation skills.
