The successful candidate serves as an engineer driving commercial aircraft component repair projects, primarily related to Avionics. This position works very closely with Fleet Engineering, internal shops, external vendors and Delta TechOps MRO customers.

The position will undertake tasks including but not limited to:

  • Develop repairs for aircraft components with a focus on Avionics
  • Maintain compliance with applicable FAA, DOT, OSHA and EPA regulations, foreign regulatory requirements and Delta's Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP) and all other engineering processes.
  • Provides status for projects/issues through various briefings and documentation.
  • Prepare and conducts Engineering Working Group meetings
  • Revise numerous FAA approved Manuals and Engineering Reports.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Manufacturers and the FAA ACO and FSDO/CMO.
  • Irregular shift hours may be required, on rare occasion, due to critical requirements. This may include weekend work depending on criticality of the issue.
  • Occasional travel is required to support the programs.


What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 3-5 years of aviation related experience, or a Master's Degree in Engineering with 1-3 years of aviation related experience, ora Ph.D. Degree in Engineering, or 5-9 years in a technical aviation related discipline with 2-3 in an aviation engineering organization with a focus on component maintenance, reliability programs and repair design.
  • Prior airline, military, OEM or MRO experience with commercial aircraft is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with airline flight operations and support systems, 14 CFR 121 dispatch regulations and 14 CFR 145 repair station regulations are desired.
  • Must have strong customer service orientation and relationship management skills, strong project management skills; written and verbal communication skills; multi-tasking abilities; proven results-orientation; and strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and AUTOCAD, or similar, desired.
  • Work is performed without appreciable direction. Considerable latitude is provided in determining technical objectives of assignment. High impact work requires minor review.
  • Extensive knowledge and technical expertise related to the principles, theories, and concepts pertaining to his/her job function. A wide knowledge of other engineering related disciplines is also desired.
  • Accurately anticipate the not so obvious impact of various solutions to technical problems. Provides feasible alternatives to solve complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Provides technical guidance, assistance, and work direction to Senior Engineers and Engineers.
  • The winning candidate must be an excellent orator of effective communication to not only the team but the division and industry collectively.


What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • A Background in electrical engineering with knowledge of aircraft wiring and/or avionics systems.
