The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, testing, evaluation, implementation, and support of various platforms (hardware, operating systems, software, and systems tools). Provide consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and systems programming. Implement releases, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment. Ensure platform performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through monitoring, timely service restoration, and tuning. Duties may include capacity planning, workload modelling, system maintenance/administration, and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Understand technical/business requirements captured from the business units.
  • Analyze, design, and document platforms/systems to meet enterprise requirements.
  • Hands on knowledge of configuring, iPhone, iPad, Android, and Windows mobile smart phones and devices.
  • Configure, install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot hardware systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions, and to prevent recurring problems.
  • Provide support for the mobile devices and related AirWatch Mobile Device Management (MDM) infrastructure
  • Secures, monitors, manages, and supports mobile devices deployed across mobile operators, service providers and the enterprise
  • Firmware updates over the air, Diagnostics, Remote Configuration and Provisioning, Security, Backup/Restore, Network Usage and Support, Mobile asset tracking and management, Device Policy Management, Remote Lock and Wipe and Device Provisioning
  • Develop and implement access, monitoring, control, and documentation of procedures/standards (incl. DR plan)
  • Reset, install, and configure applications and related credentials on mobile devices
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and diagnostics of mobile devices
  • Provide subject matter expertise support to Help Desk and end users.
  • Support team administrators and engineers and act as resource to other team members
  • Achieve optimum performance and availability standards in accordance with service level agreements by assessing, implementing, and managing appropriate mobile technical solutions.
  • Applicant should possess good customer service skills dealing with external, inter-organizational and vendor contacts
  • Must be able and willing to work flexible shifts as required and communicate by phone and in person with customers and appropriate organizations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of iOS, Blackberry, Android and Windows mobile devices and Operating systems
  • Knowledge of mobile security technologies preferred
  • Knowledge of windows servers preferred
  • Able to take highly technical discussions to the appropriate level to foster proper understanding to drive decisions and forward progress
  • Analytical ability to solve complex problems
  • Can understand both business process as well as underlying systems
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies for enterprise use to consistently drive down total cost of ownership.
  • Perform technical reviews comparing enterprise standard platform components with that of their leading industry competitors.
  • Advise other business units (e.g. application groups, DBAs, middleware, etc.) to configure platforms for product installation.
  • Ensure platforms/systems conform to established enterprise/industry standards (systems management, security, operating systems, etc.) and reference models.
  • Implement changes to platforms with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise standards and procedures.
  • Monitor, manage, and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.
  • Provide on-site, and on-call 7x24x365 support, as needed.
  • Coordinate activities with internal/external technology owners/service providers.


What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • 5 or more years' experience in the design/administration/support of one or more platforms; or five years equivalent in depth experience in the above related areas
  • 2 - 3+ years of experience actively using the AirWatch MDM product to manage iOS devices and Android Rugged devices.
  • Experience with device enrollment, component upgrades, configuration via Profiles, Product Provisioning and Custom Settings.
  • Application deployments
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of multiple systems (operating/integration/architecture) and programming languages/methodologies
  • Experience in one or more of the following scripting languages: VBScript, Shell Scripts, and another OS level scripting.
  • Extensive experience with various configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet or SaltStack.
  • Solid understanding of containerized platforms.
  • Extensive experience with operating applications in a public or private cloud environment.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting network-related issues such as DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, LDAP, firewalls and LAN/WAN.
  • High School diploma, GED or High School Equivalency.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking and styles.

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Experience working in an airline technology environment.
  • Zebra Rugged device, StageNow configuration tool and OS upgrades experience
