Crew systems is looking for a talented Software Engineering Manager to lead Crew Flight Crew Legalities, Crew role management, Crew security and patching. This position is responsible for leading the transformation of modern and legacy systems to flexible, scalable systems that will run in the AWS Cloud environment and delivering technical solutions in a collaborative manner with the business.

The position is for a passionate manager who will focus on overseeing the operations of mission critical applications and is responsible for the following key job functions in support of the Crew Systems:

  • Lead teams working on system support, enhancements, and large-scale initiatives in the Crew
  • Building credibility with Delta business and IT leadership by demonstrating thought leadership beyond what is currently available within the current organization and building a path to maturity
  • Communicate the business impact and ensure the right resources are available and engaged to quickly resolve any technology issue
  • Ensure operational and transactional service levels, internal controls, and external controls are met
  • Act as a change agent, initiating appropriate changes to support business growth, reduce operational costs, and/or improve service levels
  • Communicate the departmental leadership vision/strategy and then manage people and technology to follow that direction
  • Coordinate activities with internal/external technology owners/service providers
  • Lead reskilling of team members to ensure a successful transition to the new cloud tech stack
  • Fosters collaboration with team members to drive consistency across product teams
  • Manage the budget associated to Crew roadmap deliverables, and commitments
  • Identify areas of improvement and partner with stakeholders to drive scalable, & reliable solutions
  • Production issue triage and prevention as needed, release management support from a planning and communication standpoint, and overall backlog maintenance
  • Recruiting, hiring, and retaining the industry best talent for the team
  • This role may be in Atlanta, GA or Minneapolis, MN


What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking and style
  • Ability to manage multiple products and shifting priorities
  • Experience working with stakeholders to implement large-scale solutions
  • Proven executive level communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Must be results oriented and capable of meeting or exceeding expectations with attention to detail and highest quality results.
  • Familiarity and experience with agile engineering practices like Test Automation, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), DevOps, etc.
  • Servant leadership
  • Ability to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience leading teams and direct reports distributed geographically
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
