The Chick-fil-A Tax Department is responsible for tax compliance, technology, special projects, research and audit defense functions for independently-owned franchised restaurants and corporate activities. We exist to provide tax planning, regulatory reporting and consulting to stakeholders, governments, external auditors and business leaders. As we grow in complexity and global footprint, we seek to influence business decisions, reduce tax liability and mitigate risk.The Tax Technology Sr. Principal Team Leader’s primary responsibility is to lead a team that is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the various technology systems used within the Tax Department. The leader also casts vision for the future tax technology needs of the Tax Department.Leadership - Setting goals for the Tax Technology Team modeling how we work together:

Leads a team of three tax professionals, having full technical responsibility for the results of the team.

Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the team promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

Works collaboratively on and often lead cross-functional evaluations of business impacts and influences decisions. Ensures effective communication and timely resolution of conflicts.

Supports the implementation of CFA programs to ensure the success of the Company and Operators.

Supports tax leadership in maintaining a team culture that fosters an environment where trust, accountability and team cohesiveness are valued and encouraged at all levels.

Displays a positive attitude toward co-workers, outside vendors/consultants, and is an example of the mission statement and corporate purpose of Chick-fil-A.

Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:

Liaison with Information Technology (IT) Department to determine resources, project management, and knowledge sharing.

Identify tax technology needs, including process improvement opportunities, efficiency gains, automation and application of tax process and technology best practices through the utilization of current technology and the implementation of new technology.

Manage, develop and plan tax analytic/tax information technology initiatives for the Tax department.

Work with the CFA Information Technology Team to prototype, develop, test and implement new tax technology.

Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:

Develop SQL queries that appropriately capture the data necessary to file tax returns in various taxing jurisdictions.

Verifies tax application results by conducting system enhancements of implemented technologies.

Recommends tax technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.

Develop queries necessary to capture data necessary to perform reverse audit and audit reviews.

Assists in the development of tax system selection criteria.

Serve as Project Lead on third-party indirect tax software implementation and upgrades.

Performs process design and tax requirements analysis for indirect tax software implementations.

Performs user acceptance testing, custom training and post-go-live support of tax system.

Development of customized applications and database platforms to support compliance and audit.

Optimization of tax systems to utilize software enhancements.

Assess and improve the process and data flow related to sales data information and other tax specific data.

Develop and manage productive working relationships with service providers and vendors.

Develops a high level of technical expertise in existing and new areas of responsibility and ensures the functional team has a sufficient level of knowledge in these areas.

Ensure Tax Team personnel have proper access rights to CFA software applications, and ensure tax software applications and hardware is updated and configured to optimize performance.

Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:

Challenges and inspires team members to achieve business and tax results.

Provides coaching, direction, leadership support and performance reviews for team members to achieve business results.

8+ years of experience in tax technology or related work.

A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Tax Technology, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science

Experience with SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, OneSource, and Amazon Web Services

10+ years of experience in tax technology or related work.

A master’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Tax, Tax Technology, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science.

CPA, Experience with SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, OneSource, and Amazon Web Services.
