Camp Fire Columbia was founded in 1910. Our comprehensive program starts with early intervention at the elementary level, bridges the learning gap for middle school, and helps students thrive and plan for bright futures during high school. During the schoolyear, Camp Fire works in partnership with dozens of schools in the Metro Area. During the summer months, we offer summer camps in the Portland metro area and at our beautiful 552-acre camp, Camp Namanu, bordered by the vibrant Sandy River and presided over by century old trees.

Compensation Range: $66,900 - $87,000

Camp Fire Columbia is looking for a Director of Development who is motivated by our mission and has a proven track record of fundraising success. It is an exciting time for someone who is energized by growth and program development. 2024 will mark Camp Namanu’s centennial celebration and is a once in a lifetime opportunity to highlight and champion this magical place. We hope over the next 3-5 years to launch a capital campaign, grow development revenue from 500K to 1.5 million, and deepen our use of community centric fundraising as our primary orientation to development. The Director of Development has the primary responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to raise revenue from individuals, businesses, government and foundations.

This position serves on the Camp Fire Columbia management team, is involved with direct solicitation, as well as motivates and manages staff of three (2.2 FTE) to reach fundraising goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, community centric environment and contributes to a collaborative, productive and fun work environment. Extensive knowledge and practice with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge is required.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Equity: This role will come in contact with students, visitors, vendors and employees. Each of these persons may have visible and invisible qualities that make that person unique. This role requires sustaining an inclusive and equitable learning and working environments by having respectful and considerate behavior, thoughtful and constructive speech to all. Develop and execute the Camp Fire Columbia annual fundraising and communications/marketing plan

Secure financial and in-kind support to meet budget goals

Create and implement strategy to build a diverse pipeline of annual contributors, major donors and corporate partners

Collaboratively build organizational budget

Provide analysis and report on fundraising progress for the CEO, Board, and Program Directors

Initiate contact with donors, align giving priorities, and successfully solicit gifts in the 1K-25K range

Steward donor relationships by ensuring fulfillment of benefits, along with consistent, creative and valued appreciation activities

Conduct outreach and devise campaigns to build a diversified base of financial support

Oversee strategy and execution of special events – including the established Spark and the under development Sparkfinder event

Work with the CEO to identify, engage, and solicit key funding partners

Support and involve the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers in developing and stewarding donor relationships

Leverage the Camp Fire brand with integrity and creativity

Collaboratively participate on organization’s management team

Manage development staff (currently 2.2 FTE): Development Manager, Grants Manager, & Director of Outreach & Engagement

Maintain and analyze fundraising data through Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge; oversee data entry, gift processing, and report generation. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises the Development Manager and Grants Manager and may serve as a task supervisor on some projects for the Director of Outreach and Engagement and the Communications Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Education and/or Experience:

Minimum 7 years’ experience in progressively complex development positions and demonstrable track record meeting fundraising goals while centering principals of equity and focus on community engagement. There are no minimum education requirements for this position.

A minimum of three years of supervisory experience is required.

Lived or learned experience understanding the impact of racism and systems of oppression as it relates to work with youth and communities, and utilizing an equity lens and trauma-informed approach to developing and managing fundraising efforts.Our Commitment:
