FACILITIES TECHNICIAN DATA CENTER
WAGE: $25/HOUR
CONTRACT: 1ST SHIFT
LOCATION: ALPHARETTA, GA
Position Purpose
The Facilities Technician III performs moderately complex repairs, facilities, equipment, fixtures and modifications and preventative maintenance on Data Center and systems.
Principal Accountabilities
Assure all mechanical and wiring installations are done in a neat, clean and professional manner
Assure the Data Center is kept clean and organized at all times
Update all additions, deletions and modifications to the Data Center in the appropriate documentation system
Monitor strategic Data Center infrastructure systems, to include power, cooling, fire suppression and space allocation
Follow best-practice processes for ongoing management and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical infrastructures
Follow best-practice for ongoing power and HVAC capacity utilization and reporting
Oversee inspections of Data Center facilities equipment, initiate corrective action and follow up to completion
Oversee inspections (Walk through) of Data Center operational physical equipment per schedule, initiate corrective action and follow up to completion (Amber light reporting)
Oversee inspections of Data Center access logs, documentation verified and retained for compliance audits
Provide Tape Management for the Data Center locations and collocation sites, tracking inventories, loading libraries and coordinating with offsite tape vendor (Iron Mountain)
Audit Compliance -Document all additions, deletions and modifications to the Data Center for required evidence
Follow best-practice processes for IT equipment disposal and document for compliance audits
Enter and receive purchase orders and track invoices for timely completion
Emergency on-site response to Data Center outages or issues to troubleshoot and repair when needed
Provide infrastructure production support to various teams including: Platform and Network Services, Technical Project Management Office, Production Operations and Production Services
Provide logistics, transportation and asset management of Data Center devices
Follow best practice for low voltage cabling including copper, fiber and patch cables
Manage IT Facility service request and trouble ticket queues
Key Performance Indicators
Successfully complete change tickets to meet expectations
Data Center uptime within expected SLA
Reporting on timely completion of purchase orders and invoices
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate’s degree (preferred)
Four+ years Data Center technical experience
Four+ years facilities support experience in a comparable enterprise environment
Required Knowledge and Skill
Working knowledge of enterprise-class facilities processes and procedures
Individual must have a working knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP and understanding of Server Technology and terminology, and its interactions with Data Center facilities and Network Infrastructure
Should be familiar with Blade Server Technology and SAN infrastructure
Demonstrated project management and problem analysis/resolution skills
In-depth understanding of rack space management, patch cable management and power allocation management
Ability to perform Electrical/Mechanical calculations
Ability to create cost estimates for facility projects
Understanding of IEEE specifications for systems and network cabling
Familiar with Power requirements for Data Center hardware preferred
Familiar with HVAC requirements for a Data Center facility
Proficiency in both basic AC as well as DC electrical theory
Understanding of single phase and 3 phase power
Basics of electrical installation, wire and conduit sizing
Understanding of multi-module UPS systems, as well as size both UPS and battery systems
