Extensive experience with Networking, AVPN, and Cloud related projects
able to pass FBI and GBI background checks
Huge plus - Government agency experience
This role will consist of, but not limited to:
Design/planning for a critical fiber node move to another location.
Design/planning for any connected assets that need to move to new location. Note that the vast majority of datacenter assets are expected to either be decommissioned and/or transitioned to cloud.
Capacity analysis and design of new location's core infrastructure to support additional users.
Capacity analysis and design of new location's floors / end user space to support users and devices moving to new location.
Design/planning for business partner connectivity (migrate to new location or redesign).
Review existing TDM circuits supporting voice and/or other services and identify/plan for services that need to migrate to new location.
The Senior Network Engineer will lead the Discovery, Assessment and Recommendations development required to perform the following:
Discovery
Transition the client's AVPN to the new datacenter
Research the existing infrastructure for core, distribution and access design improvements. This includes power, port density, fiber availability, capacity analysis and environmental review.
Identify any TDM circuits and voice services that are in scope and make sure that from a voice and multimedia perspective that voice and video capacity requirements are captured for purposes of properly sizing data network circuits.
Identify number of users moving and determine the port density requirements on a floor-by-floor basis at the new location building. This will drive expansion of core, distribution and access capacity at the target locations.
New Location Building Assessment to include but not limited to:
Identify Single Points of Failure
Is the fiber/copper plant capable of supporting additional use/load?
Identify potential redundancy improvements in the design
Validate capacity/scalability (speeds/feeds)
Validate VLAN design can support MACDs
