The Medical Staff Services Department provides a variety of information and services to members of the medical staff and associated staff, their offices staff, hospital departments and administration as well as other external health care related organizations, agencies and consumers. The Medical Staff Services Specialist assists in the daily operations of the department and ensures that the required functions of the medical staff are implemented. The position assists with the credentialing, including appointments, reappointments, proctoring, privileging and provisional status of all medical staff and allied health practitioners. This position also provides support for the Community Medical Classroom program, manage medical staff communications, assist in the maintenance of Medical Staff Bylaws, and support medical staff department in meeting functions.

Support the day-to-day operations of the Medical Staff Services Department including planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluation. Independently establishes priorities and secures resources to achieve the goals and objectives of the department.

Actively participates in all related surveys and ensures adequacy and coordination of medical staff function information required to meet applicable standards resulting in achievement of successful licensure and accreditation.

Collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer and other staff regarding Medical Staff meetings, bylaws, and other activities as needed, as it relates to the functions of the Medical Staff.

Provides interface with medical staff, administration and hospital departments to ensure implementation of Medical Executive Committee and Board decisions regarding improvements in patient care policies and processes.

Assists with the development and maintenance of current department policy and procedure manuals.

Maintains effective working relationship with Medical Quality Review staff. Works to ensure that goals and objectives of the Medical Staff Quality Improvement Plan are met, including assurance of confidentiality of medical staff activities as they relate to peer review, quality management and medico-legal issues. Collaborates in the development of a credentialing and reappointment link to quality improvement activities

Develops and maintains effective working relationship with Medical Staff leadership providing consultative expertise, administrative and other delegated support as necessary for them to fulfill their obligations.

Previous medical staff services experience including credentialing required

Certification as Certified Provider of Credentialing Services (CPCS) preferred

Working computer knowledge including proficiency in word processing and database management

Strong attention to detail skills required
