MUSLIM IMAM FOR RELIGIOUS SUPPORT PROGRAM
Overview:
The contracted Muslim Imam shall provide religious support on weekdays and weekends for Muslim Soldiers and Family members in Fort Benning Chapels or designated worship facilities. The contract will cover weekly services such as Friday Jummah (Prayer), Sunday worship service, and other special services approved by the Fort Benning Religious Support Office.
Scope of Work:
Conduct Friday prayer, Sunday worship, and Holy Day (Ramadan and the breaking of the fast) services, not to exceed 10 per month or 120 per year. The services are intended for Garrison community and the Basis Trainees throughout Fort Benning. The recommended length should be one hour but no more than 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Qualifications:
· Imams providing services under this contract shall be a seasoned leader in a local mosque “not newly converted to Islam.”
· Each contractor provide a signed letter of approval on official letterhead from a religious organization (RO) whose principal purpose is to support an individual’s belief and practice of his or her religion.
· The approval letter will include contact information, the group’s origin, purpose, general worship practices, the length of time it has existed, and the number of members of the religious group.
· The religious organization will certify that the contractor currently has favorable ecclesiastical standing with the RO and is religiously-qualified for the purposes of serving as an Imam.
· He shall be fluent in English, able to preach and read the Quran in English. Furthermore, the Imam shall be well versed in Islam, able to dissect the Quran, and render sound traditionally accepted interpretations (not personal opinion).
· Also, the individual shall be a good orator/communicator and process excellent pastoral skills.
· Preferred: Individual have a Master degree in religious studies from a credited university.
Contract Period of Performance:
Base year: 30 JUL 2021 through 29 JUL 2022
Option year one: 30 JUL 2022 through 29 JUL 2023
Option year two: 30 JUL 2023 through 29 JUL 2024
