Responsibilities

This opening is for an experienced experience design (XD) architect who will focus on creating best-in-class customer-facing digital solutions for Statefarm.com and our digital properties. The ideal candidate is capable of empathizing with end users of digital properties and advocates for their needs, while understanding technical constraints and capabilities and applying user-centered design principles to reach successful business outcomes.

A Day In The Life

We are looking for passionate user advocates who can provide solid experience architecture and direction for multiple products across Statefarm.com's digital properties. The ideal candidate will use significant creativity to find ways to improve the user experience, and will have the opportunity to apply information and user experience architecture skills to solve complex business problems. Our committed eXperience Design (XD) team strives continually to deliver best-in-class experiences, all while working in a spirit of collaboration and team participation. We provide enterprise solutions for customer-facing digital properties, including Statefarm.com and mobile applications. Our XD team collaborates with business areas to meet customer needs by creating and delivering architecture, design and content solutions. For example, the XD team imagines, architects and designs the Internet and mobile experiences you interact with when you use a State Farm digital channel.

We are looking for Candidates who:
  • Can lead high-impact strategic customer experience work, and exhibit highly specialized in-depth business and user-centered design knowledge
  • Understand and have created mobile-first and responsive design experiences that scale across digital platforms
  • Understand and have created native mobile experiences and have in-depth knowledge of HIG and Material standards
  • Can apply user research insights to create taxonomical and structural models for information environments (sites, apps, services, processes, workflows, etc.); can effectively communicate rationale and synthesis of research, data, business and end-user requirements used to reach design solutions
  • Use design thinking and interaction design skills to translate information architecture into user interface design, from high-level structural concepts through UI specifications (user and task flows, sketches, wireframes, prototypes, etc.) in formats relevant to each engagement
  • Can apply design system knowledge to deliverables and contribute to internal design systems
  • Work as a strong team players and collaborators in an Agile and iterative environment, and are able to work effectively in cross-functional, multidisciplinary Agile teams
  • Successfully lead others to manage any type of digital project; can mentor, train, and guide others
  • Resolve issues with minimal management intervention and readily volunteers expertise; is able to work effectively and collaboratively to achieve outcomes and make immediate contributions to digital projects
  • Demonstrate credibility and strategic collaboration skills with business and development partners and customers
  • Demonstrate the ability to drive dialog and collaboration to helps teams reach consensus on issues/initiatives
  • Demonstrate the ability to think holistically, creatively and analytically to architect consistent and coherent user experiences across device platforms and channels
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in light of changing priorities or new data insights

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. or B.A. in Industrial Design, HCI, Design degree emphasizing user experience architecture or interaction design, or degree in the Behavioral or Cognitive sciences, or related discipline/equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. or M.A. in HCI, Human Factors, Usability Engineering, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, or related discipline/equivalent work experience.
