Primary Responsibility:

Provides enterprise-wide DBA services for production systems and manages, installs, builds, and configures database environments to ensure availability, ease of management, stability, recovery, performance and scalability. Responsible for steady-state operation of the databases that use the customer and internal facing application, information delivery, and data warehouse development teams. Collaborates with business owners and IT team on data planning and development projects. May lead small project teams.

Essential Functions:


  • Installs, configures and manages all enterprise Oracle/MS-SQLServer database environments, including: development, test, training, sandbox and production.
  • In conjunction with enterprise application and server administrators, designs, implements and manages HA and DRP capabilities for enterprise applications. Leverages database utilities where appropriate to support HA and DRP (log shipping, clustering capabilities, etc.). Advises management on database concepts and functional capabilities to support data planning and development efforts.
  • Supports complex problem analysis providing an advanced level of application and end user support.
  • Develops migration plans and data refresh mechanisms to keep environments current and in sync with production. May lead small project teams in data migration activities.
  • Implements proactive monitoring capabilities that ensure minimal disruption to the user community, including: early failure detection mechanisms, log monitoring, session tracing and data capture to aid in the troubleshooting process
  • Monitors and tunes performance, working across application, server/storage, database and functional support areas to tune system for optimal performance. Builds and maintains a comprehensive performance management toolkit focused on proactive performance management.
  • Works with management and security team to assist in developing, implementing and enforcing security policies. Creates and manages user and security profiles, ensuring application security policies and procedures are followed.
  • Designs and implements database backup and recovery procedures in conjunction with system and application administrators for comprehensive data protection. Utilizes various methods to provide flexible data recovery capabilities.
  • Analyze database security and make necessary changes to fulfill IT compliance requirements and support IT audit activities.
  • Responsible for administering the SAP HANA Database, update and upgrades. Performance tuning.
  • Operates under irregular work schedules as needed, provides off-hours operational support, and participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Other duties as requested.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of database administration experience managing databases in mission-critical application environments; BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification in SAP/Oracle is a plus
  • Oracle and SQL Server experience (Oracle RAC and Sybase ASE experience is a plus)
  • SAP Application administration experience is a plus
  • AWS (PostgreSQL, Redshift) experience is a plus
  • Experience with additional tools and features: Oracle Grid Control, Real Application Testing, Partitioning, Data Guard, etc.
  • Oracle Streams
  • Well versed in Structured Query Language (SQL); experience tuning application code for performance/scalability Experience with SQL Server is a plus
  • Working knowledge of HP-UX, Linux or other enterprise Unix platform
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite and email tools

  • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from executive management
