Summer 2023 - Operations Engineering - College Intern in GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

This is a summer intern in-person full time opportunity for May/June - August/September 2023. This position will be posted until 10/28/2022.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is with the Operations Engineering group which supports the design, development and testing of aircraft through to demonstrated airworthiness. Candidate will work in both the office and production environment while gaining exposure to various engineering functions.

1. Ensures product engineering requirements are met through all facets of manufacturing process

2. Provides design input to ensure product manufacturability personnel and asset safety while maximizing delivered quality, repeatability and cost effectiveness

3. Defines tools, equipment, and manufacturing actions to deploy and optimize activities in assigned stage(s) of fabrication/assembly/test/delivery of aircraft product(s)

4. Designs and enables fabrication of shop aids, tooling and fixtures

5. Using company procedures, applies engineering knowledge to recognize discrepancies and/or problems with analysis/test results and works toward corrective action

6. Utilize Lean and Six Sigma principles to assist in implementing process improvements

Education and Experience Requirements:

1. Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology or related field graduating after August 2023.

2. 3D modeling software experience is required.

3. 2.7 GPA or higher and it must be listed on the submitted resume along with anticipated graduation date.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of lean manufacturing preferred.

5. Familiarity with GD&T preferred.

6. Familiarity with metallic or composite part fabrication and assembly techniques desired.

7. Must be able to do at least 12 weeks for the Summer internship.

8. Must have completed freshman year of college by the start of the internship.
