Our client is seeking an Sr. Ignition Developer for a permanent role opportunity!

TITLE: Sr. Ignition Developer
TERM: Permanent

Position Summary:
  • Manage, design, co-ordinate and implement the installations of new I4.0 systems within the company. Ensure sustainable integrity and stability of the I4.0 infrastructure and proactively recommend best practices within the I4.0 Arena. Support and develop staff.

Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Working with a team and establishing machine tag management, screens, displays, and alarms using Inductive Automation's Ignition 8 platform to enable remote monitoring
  • Ignition development and scripting
  • Ignition Developer is responsible for the following functions:
  • Designing control/SCADA systems including databases and database interfaces, data analytics & reporting, scripting (Python, C#, VB, etc.) and general programming
  • Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing user interfaces
  • System commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Working as an individual or in a team with other software engineers
  • Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components
  • Interface with developers and end users to gather application requirements and dependencies
  • Responsible for design and support of Industrial IoT implementation related to SCADA Ignition systems
  • Managing multiple scopes of work in various phases simultaneously
  • Actively participate in technical team design and code reviews and maintain software configuration control and may have some lead responsibilities
  • Mentor/Train team members in areas of expertise
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ensures all projects are executed in accordance to established company IT governance practices
  • Foster cross-functional relationships inter- and intra-departmentally
  • Execute assigned projects and track the completion of major milestones in Azure DevOps (ADO).


Qualifications/Experience:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience Ignition software and scripting, and Data Historian (Canary preferred)
  • 3 years MES (any platform) preferred experience
  • Ignition Core and Gold Certification is required
  • Ability to comprehend and implement detailed project specifications
  • Ability to adapt to various technologies and simultaneously work on multiple projects
  • Technical Skills and experience working with MS SQL, HTML 5, Python, MQTT
  • Experience with development languages (python scripting, java, C#)
  • Experience with data transport technologies such as HTTP and MQTT
  • Experience with at least 1 of the following control systems, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Bosch, TwinCat
  • Significant experience designing, developing, deploying and troubleshooting large scale software applications
  • Strong understanding of business operations and best industry practices
  • Strong mathematical abilities
