We are currently hiring for a full time Lead barista!
Honolulu Coffee, the first and premiere farm to cup coffee on the islands, is looking to expand our talented team of coffee professionals at our Hyatt Kaanapali Café. Honolulu coffee company has been roasting high-quality local coffee since 1992, when Hawaii's coffee scene was nearly non-existent. Due to our dedication to coffee roasting and barista quality, perfecting our craft, and the continual growth and improvement of each of our employees, we are now an internationally known brand. What began as a small kiosk in Downtown Honolulu has expanded to include stores on Hawaii Island, Maui, Guam, Japan, and China, all serving the same ripe coffee cherries hand-plucked from its Kona coffee farm .
The Lead Barista is responsible for the quality of the coffee and training at the Café, acting as an in-store extension of our Barista Training and Coffee education department on Oahu. The Lead Barista serves as a role model to their teams in their own hospitality, drink and food preparation, as well as takes significant responsibility for on-the-job education and training of those team members. This is a great role for someone who has already demonstrated a high level of skill and performance in coffee, food and hospitality and wants to help nurture others to do the same.
Essential Functions and qualifications
Ensure that the drinks, food and hospitality in your cafe consistently meet Honolulu Coffees high standards by educating, coaching and developing new and current team members
Lead by example at all times to show your cafe how a highly skilled and hospitable barista approaches his/her work in preparing drinks and food, serving guests, and helping teammates
Develop strong and successful working relationships with co-workers and promote a spirit of inclusivity and teamwork among all team members in your cafe
Regularly taste coffee drinks made by baristas at your cafe as well and conduct barista audit to ensure consistently high quality that meet our standards
Offer positive and/or constructive feedback to team members on the quality and consistency of drink preparation, food preparation, cleanliness, professionalism, and customer service
Participate in lead barista conference calls with our Oahu Café and send in your weekly recap to other lead baristas and the director of coffee education,
Enthusiastically share your knowledge and passion with others and thrive in helping groups of others learn. A fantastic teacher who loves coaching others and is patient and adaptive in helping learners of different styles and backgrounds succeed
Professional and reliable - your manager, teammates in your cafe, and colleagues in other departments can always depend on you and get a timely response or assistance
Excited to grow as a leader in the Café and more broadly by learning and developing yourself in coffee, food, cafe operations, and people development and management.

$14 hour starting wage (plus tips which average $5 hour). Once you complete your Lead Barista your pay will go up to $15.
