I'm a paralyzed 58-year old needing help in my tranquil Kailua home. Pleasant, very active boss, eight other aides. Dressing, paperwork, light cooking and housecleaning, running errands. We have occasional outings and get-togethers as a group. We have a good community here.
Open shifts: Wednesdays 11a-3p, every other Thursday 7a-1p, every other Friday 9a-7p, Saturdays 7a-11a, and backup (on call) shifts. Staff may trade shifts, within reason, to accommodate vacations and special occasions. Additional shifts will open in the future. I pay by check and withhold Social Security. I withhold taxes if you like.
No experience or health license required, but the job includes bathing and other personal care. I am paralyzed below the shoulders. I provide paid training.
I ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months. Must be very reliable, punctual, and have stable transportation. Some lifting (I weigh 185). You must be 5'2" or taller to reach around me for lifting. Please apply only if you already live on Oahu. No tolerance for drug use.
This job offers a chance to learn about health care, computers, cooking, basic tools, and everyday research (e.g., Web searching, notetaking, phone skills). I design and program computer games for a living, and participate in local organizations and government. I provide free Wi-Fi.
