We, Regenerative Education Centers (REC), a non-profit regenerative agriculture farm, are looking to hire locals for 6 paid positions.
The positions are preferably full-time, and are on site at our farm in Olowalu. The positions will last for 1 year. The work will involve our normal farm operations, and support the humanitarian aid program we are running to help victims of the Lahaina fires with locally grown food and housing solutions.
These positions will be paid through a grant we have received from Maui Economic Opportunity (MEO). Because of this, to qualify for these positions, you must qualify to work under the MEO grant. The basic requirements are that you have lived on Maui since before the fire and lost your job due to the fire or are un/underemployed. We prefer applicants who are Lahaina locals. Note that we are most eager to fill the laborer positions.
The open positions are:
- Administrative Assistant ($26/h, 2 positions. M-F, 9-5)
- Involves office work; file organization; email management and reception; bookkeeping; communicating with fire victims we are assisting; grant writing.
- We prefer applicants who are familiar with documents software such as Word/Excel/Google Sheets/Docs, etc., are well-organized, competent, good at following instructions.
- Laborer ($24.50/h, 2 positions. M-F, 8-4)
- Involves farm labor such as watering; weeding; heavy lifting; composting; picking fruit; etc.
- Humanitarian Assistant ($23/h, 2 positions. M-F, 8-4)
- Involves working our farm stand and generally helping around; having people skills and a good, friendly attitude; cooking rice, preparing mangoes, etc.
