Groundskeeper/Maintenance F/T days with EXCELLENT benefits!

We are looking for an experienced, hardworking Groundskeeper who will assist with ensuring the readiness and care for our school campus. The ideal candidate will fulfill the responsibilities and possess most or all of the qualifications outlined below:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

>Maintain campus landscaping, maintaining/fertilizing/trimming/mowing/watering lawns, trees, shrubs, vines

>Leafblowing, pick up and disposal

>Operate and maintain hand tools, machinery, power tools efficiently and in a safe and responsible manner

>Complete preventative maintenance following establish guidelines

>Paint building exterior, interior, signage, road markings, etc.

>Perform basic carpentry repairs

>Assist with irrigation and plumbing

>Identify and fix potential safety hazards

>Assist with large item disposal, removal, relocation

>Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively and professionally with staff and public

>Occasionally drive to pick up supplies or run errands

>Respond to security issues or equipment emergencies as requested

Special Events set-up

>Readying the gymnasium or courtyard for events, auditorium/theater activities and other special programs, including set-up and break down of chairs, podium, stage, audio/video equipment, lighting

>Graduation: assist in set-up, ramps, lighting, tear-down and security on the Great Lawn

Support of all school-sponsored events including set-up, tear-down, transporting auction items, security, parking coordination

>Support of private rental events including locking/unlocking of gates/buildings (where indicated) according to contracted time; disarming alarm; assisting with trash, standard lighting, and restroom facilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

>High school diploma or GED

>One year of job-related experience

>A working knowledge of trades needed to complete the above tasks (landscaping; painting; plumbing; carpentry; brick; tile and masonry work; minor electrical)

>Ability to follow instructions, written and verbal

>Attention to detail, problem solving skills, service oriented personality

>Reliable, punctual attendance and a can-do attitude

>A valid driver’s license

>Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform bending, twisting motions safely

>Ability to work indoors or outdoors in a variety of weather environments

>All employees must successfully complete pre-hire requirements such as fingerprinting, background check, reference checks, TB clearance, sexual misconduct, mandated reporter and other safety trainings, and possess or become certified in first aid/AED/CPR training within 45 days of hire (at the school's expense and arrangement).

Preferred Qualifications

>Experience in a combination of these skillsets: Electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, pest removal, landscaping/gardening

Physical/mental requirements

>Often requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds

>Often requires walking/standing, bending/crouching/reaching/etc., and at times sitting

>Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools

>Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc.

>Often work outdoors and indoors in a variety of weather conditions

>Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday during normal business hours; evening or weekend hours maybe required to meet goals and objectives.

Position Details

Department: Maintenance

Status: Permanent, Full-time, not to exceed 40 hours per week without prior notification/approval

Work year: 12 months, beginning in July to June)

Work hours: availability Monday through Friday: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM based on the needs of the school; some evenings and weekends. Occasional, infrequent flexibility for earlier or later for special circumstances.
