Construction Inspector for Asphalt, Concrete, Soil and Electrical

(Full time, shift work. Weekends as needed.)

Job Description:

The construction inspector is responsible for ensuring the general contractor’s work meets the project’s plans and specification requirements. The inspector will perform daily inspections and submit daily reports that include summary of work completed, photos, issues, quality and compliance of the asphalt, concrete and soil materials, and workmanship on the construction project. The inspector will perform field inspections, testing, and audits, as well as review project documents, specifications, and standards. The inspector will also prepare and maintain electronic inspection records, reports, and corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

● Conduct field inspections and tests of asphalt/concrete/soil materials, equipment, and workmanship according to the project quality plan and specifications.

● Verify that the asphalt/concrete/soil materials and workmanship meet the project requirements and standards.

● Identify and report any non-conformities, defects, or deviations from the project specifications and standards.

● Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.

● Review and approve asphalt material certificates, test reports, and other quality documents.

● Coordinate and communicate with the project manager, project administrator, construction manager and/or QAQC Manager/Supervisor on quality issues.

● Maintain and update inspection records, reports, and checklists in a timely and accurate manner using construction management software on a tablet/mobile phone.

● Ensure compliance with the project safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.

● Perform other related duties as assigned by the project manager or engineer.

Qualifications:

● Minimum of 3 years of experience or equivalent education as a Construction inspector for asphalt, concrete, soil and/or related construction field.

● Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and workmanship standards and specifications. Asphalt, concrete, soil and/or electrical knowledge a plus.

● Functional computer, tablet, and mobile phone skills.

● Conduct on-site inspections of construction components while maintaining safety standards, including the ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and walk for extended periods.

● Ability to handle prolonged exposure to outside weather conditions.

● Perform field inspections and tests using various instruments and equipment.

● Read and interpret project documents, drawings, and specifications.

● Prepare and maintain inspection records, reports, and checklists online.

● Planning and organizational skills.

● Able to juggle multiple priorities and demonstrate good task management.

● Communicate effectively and professionally.

● Work independently and as part of a team.

● Work a variety of shifts including day, swing and graveyard.

● Able to pass a criminal history background check by the State of Hawaii for airport AOA/Sterile Area access.

● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

● Ability to read, write and speak English.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role, as well as geographic location, education and other provisions. The pay range for this position is $35-$50/hour
