Lapa'au Farm Crew members will report to our managers as well as the co-owners.
This position will give you a well-rounded understanding of working on a small-scale bio-intensive organic farm, with an emphasis on growing oyster mushrooms on a commercial scale. Farm crew members will complete tasks in the areas of planting, weeding, seeding, bed preparation, harvesting, washing of produce, packaging of produce, and possibly a day of produce deliveries.
Due to the unique demands of a farm, you will occasionally be asked to work additional days or longer hours depending on weather, harvesting demands or to help accommodate staff schedule changes.
Daily start times are 8:30 am and 8:00 am in the late spring & summer.
Compensation starts at $20/hour.
Job Requirements:
Minimum 1 years experience working on a small-scale organic farm or other farm production
The ability to work physical work in a variety of weather conditions + able to lift up to 60 lb produce bins
Ability to do physical work under varying weather conditions
The ability to work as a team and also independently as needed to complete daily tasks
Good communication skills
Good hygiene
A valid driver’s license
A vehicle to drive yourself to work with
Positive attitude and willingness to receive constructive feedback
Ideal Candidate:
3-4 years experience farming, minimum 1 year experience.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
Excellent field IQ: the ability to think critically about how to most efficiently and correctly complete a task and the awareness to notice when something was done incorrectly and fix it.
Able to learn quickly when instructions are given
