About Us

As a Clinical Data Analyst, you will be involved in efforts to improve population health for our network. You will work with claims data and clinical data to analyze and understand various populations. As a member of the Queen's Clinically Integrated Physician Network (QCIPN) team, you will pull data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) using SQL and you will also pull data from third-party applications and applications built from subject area marts in the EDW. You will work alongside clinicians, administrators, and other data analysts to identify areas of opportunity and design data-driven solutions to help manage specific populations. You will assist, develop and maintain database systems, reports, and analyses used by the organization for population health activities. You will also mine data from various electronic data systems, merge data sets to make interpretation clinically meaningful, develop and maintain predictive analytic tools, and dialogue with clinical teams to analyze/interpret data.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills as well as a talent for devising innovative solutions to complex problems. You will have opportunities to interface with Information Technology (IT) team members, acting as a liaison between clinicians and IT professionals to translate complex data to streamlined reports that are clinically relevant. We are looking for someone who works well in a team-oriented environment with a strong commitment to providing the highest quality care to our community. The ideal candidate will come with experience in relational databases, including SAS, and will have experience with SQL, reporting tools, regulatory or quality metric reporting, and claims data. Knowledge or experience with quality programs such as MIPS, CPC+, Primary Care First, HMSA Payment Transformation, and MSSP ACOs is favorable, but not required.

Responsibilities

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Under the direction of the Manager, and in collaboration with other members of the division, assists, develops and maintains database systems, reports, and analyses used by the organization for performance improvement (PI) activities, including but not limited to clinical benchmarking, case management, and/or patient safety initiatives.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: seeing, hearing, speaking, finger dexterity, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: sitting, reaching below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Occasional: stooping/bending, lifting and carrying usual weight of 20 pounds; reaching above and at shoulder level.
• Operates various office equipment such as computers, copiers, 10-key adding machine, typewriter, facsimile, telephone, shredder etc.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor's degree in healthcare, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, or related field; or four (4) years experience performing quantitative and analytical type work may be substituted for educational requirement, preferably in healthcare.

B. EXPERIENCE:
• In addition to the educational requirement:
o Two (2) years work experience performing quantitative and analytical type work.
o Two (2) years experience in healthcare, preferably in an acute care facility. A bachelor's degree in health care field may be substituted for this experience.
• Two (2) years work experience in maintaining and operating databases; spreadsheets, and word processing software, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
• Experience to demonstrate utilizing ad hoc report writing tools.
• Prior experience in performance improvement (quality), healthcare preferred.
