Job Description

This position oversees the EI&C activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans and schedules EI&C activities.
  • Determines equipment & labor requirements for EI&C repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinates work with EI&C contractors and prepare estimates, quotes & timelines for materials and labor within Ormat’s purchasing and contractor safety procedures.
  • Effectively communicates planned & unplanned work, EI&C improvements and engineering projects/activities with operations and maintenance. Directly oversees work as necessary.
  • Maintain and improve the EI&C preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Schedule and monitor the completion of EI&C work orders, preventative/predictive maintenance inspections, calibrations and other related tasks.
  • Plan and manage the site EI&C budgets.
  • Ensure all safety programs and procedures, as required by ORMAT, and other entities such as CAPP, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA are strictly adhered to and enforced by all EI&C department personnel and EI&C contractors.
  • Provide resources and support to Ormat project teams as necessary.
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, refuel vehicle and enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous period of time and read and understand maps.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays (or one or the other) when necessary.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas and other states, to work on other projects.

Qualifications

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a technical resource for the EI&C technicians, provide assistance resolving difficult work problems and/or perform journeyman-level work in the troubleshooting, design, installation, repair and upgrading of systems.
  • Supervise and perform environmental and general housekeeping activities as assigned.
  • Be a catalyst for performance/technology improvements. Continually develop contractor and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain and improve the EI&C spare parts system/inventory.
  • Attend Monthly Safety Training per Annual Training Schedule.
  • Coordinate and participate in team-building activities.
  • Take a lead role in creating a high-performance, team-orientated environment.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a combination of electrical, instrumentation, controls and/or engineering field(s) and at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, ability to manage workload efficiently and effectively, and follow through skills a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications, sketches and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work well individually or in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to multi-task well and change priorities quickly.
  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet. Knowledge of Microsoft Access is desirable.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
  • Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds periodically.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, climb to and work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.
  • Fire retardant clothing provided by Ormat is required. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, dust masks, and gloves as needed).
  • Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions.
