Columbia Pulp is looking for motivated individuals to operate our new straw pulping facility near Starbuck, Washington. Successful candidates will be self-starting, hardworking, driven, detail-oriented individuals that show a willingness to take on new responsibilities. Individuals will learn and optimize new processes contributing to the success of the organization. Job duties will be a mixture of manual labor, process control, mobile equipment operation as well as troubleshooting and monitoring of the equipment. We currently have openings for production operators in the specific areas of: Straw Handling , Pulp / Utility , Wetlap, Day Loader.

Roles and Responsibilities

Possess the mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and resolve process issues.

Basic math and computer skills.

Thorough inspection of various equipment for proper operation and report issues to supervisor.

Perform housekeeping, cleaning, and organizing functions with minimal supervision to ensure areas are clean and free from debris.

Load and unload trucks and railcars.

Perform other duties as skills allow or as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

Ability to prioritize work and take appropriate action to ensure machinery remains safe and operational.

Forklift, skid-steer and/or other industrial mobile equipment experience is preferred.

Ability to work safely, comply with all safety rules, lift, push or pull >50lbs., open/close valves, navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the entire shift.

Dependability and good attendance is a must. Work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and nights. Usually 8,12, and occasional 16 hr. shifts. Some overtime and days off work at short notice will be required at times.

Ability to work in hot and humid environment or cold outdoor environment depending on season.

Tolerance to a production environment that uses chemicals is required

Ability to read instructions in English and communicate effectively in a team and self-directed manner.

Perform job duties that require physical exertion in a heavy industrial environment while wearing protective safety equipment (PPE).

Authorized to work in the United States

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening
